From sampling the street food of Vietnam to hiking the Inca trail, here are five unforgettable trips topping our 2025 bucket list…

If you were to stop a stranger on the street right now and ask them, “What’s the one thing you wish you could do more of in 2025?”, nine times out of 10, you can bet that person would say: “Travel.”

From UK staycations to city getaways, long-haul sabbaticals to those last-minute escapes to the sun, travelling to new and exciting places awakens something of the wanderluster within all of us – and, while the beach-plus-bikini-plus-gals holiday will always be our summer OG, transformative travel and rediscovering a sense of adventure have recently surpassed the desire to simply come home with a full iCloud and some nice bits from the Duty Free.

Plus, travelling is no longer governed by relationship status. Whether you’re married, single or flying the situationship flag, more and more women are choosing to go solo when booking that trip of a lifetime. Destinations are chosen based on the unique experiences they have to offer, while everything from adventure to wellness, food and culture are all key considerations when picking the perfect place.

That’s why we’ve joined forces with Intrepid Travel to curate a series of articles dedicated to women who want more from their travel itinerary. Specialising in small group tours that offer experiences in over 100 countries, Intrepid takes travellers on specially curated journeys which support communities by employing local trip leaders and, where possible, staying in locally owned accommodation – giving you plenty of opportunity to fully immerse and connect with the culture around you.

Ready to discover the five dream destinations topping our 2025 bucket list? Read on, intrepid traveller, read on…

1. Morocco

Morocco has long been thought of as a dreamy destination, especially when it comes to weekends away exploring Marrakech’s labyrinthine maze of souks or spending a lazy few days at one of the country’s luxurious coastal resorts.

However, it’s once you step off the beaten track that you can start to fully appreciate the vibrancy of this unique North African country and its culture.

Intrepid’s eight-day Classic Morocco itinerary takes you from bustling medinas to the breathtaking vistas of the Atlas mountains, exploring sacred sites such as the Hassan II Mosque, Moulay Idriss and the Roman ruins of Volubilis along the way. Starting in Casablanca, this trip also includes a sunset camel ride into the dunes of the mighty Sahara (with an unforgettable night spent camping under the stars) and a hike through the Todra Valley to see how the locals farm their produce.

Plus, the trip offers the unique opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch at the Amal Association in Marrakech – a non-profit organisation which empowers local women through employment on their journey towards financial independence.

2. Vietnam

Once upon a time, Vietnam was considered very much a long-haul destination or a must-see stop as part of an extended gap year-style journey. However, this is no longer the case.

Taking you from south to north Vietnam, the Treasures of Vietnam trip from Intrepid allows you a snapshot of this diverse and incredible country in just eight days. With stops in Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An and Hanoi, this trip is perfect for those who want to absorb the essence of Vietnam, without having to decimate any holiday allocation.

Foodies will delight in the bustling street food scene – Ho Chi Minh City excels in banh mi and fresh spring rolls, whereas Hanoi is famous for pho and bun cha. There’s also the opportunity for travellers to explore historical sites such as the Cu Chi Tunnels, plus the chance to experience an overnight cruise on Halong Bay (with plenty of fresh seafood). We’re sold.

3. India

While India might seem a little intimidating in terms of size and the time needed to see everything (and taking in that legendary charm), there are ways to home in on certain areas and aspects to ensure a more leave-friendly trip.

Spanning 13 days in total, the India: Women’s Expedition from Intrepid is the ideal way to see the northern part of the country if you’re a solo traveller, while offering a completely different perspective on India as a whole.

Journeying between the cities, villages and desert of Rajasthan, this unique itinerary is led by a local female leader who will help guests gain insight into the lives of Indian women, whether that’s visiting local artisans in Chandelao Garh or sightseeing in Jaipur on a female-led rickshaw ride.

Other highlights include a traditional Kalbeliya dance performance in the Thar Desert (and, yes, you get there via jeep), a ride on the metro and a trip to the iconic Taj Mahal wearing a saree fitted by a local Indian woman. Memories: guaranteed.

4. Peru

Always wanted to visit Peru but not sure quite where to start? We’ve got you.

With so much to see and experience, Intrepid has curated the perfect itinerary for wanderlusters who want to get lost in the magic of Peru without having to pore over endless spreadsheets and travel guides.

Starting in Lima, the Peru Encompassed trip gives guests a full 20 days to explore this wondrous country, encompassing everything from the Amazon to the mythical Machu Picchu. Highlights include visiting the islands of Lake Titicaca, watching out for Andean condors as the sun rises over the Colca Canyon and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend a night with an Uru family as part of a homestay.

Plus, if you’re feeling nervous about the trek to Machu Picchu, there are options. While the Inca Trail is probably the most famous (the lesser visited Quarry Trail is also on offer), this trip also offers a scenic train route to the ancient ruins should you wish to leave your walking boots at home.

5. Costa Rica

Costa Rica has been one of the world’s most-hyped destinations for a while now, and with good reason.

A must-visit for wildlife fans, this rugged, rainforested Central American country has loads to offer the traveller who really wants to break with traditional tourist routes.

With a focus on natural diversity and low-key vibes, the Costa Rica Experience from Intrepid is a nine-day jaunt into the jungles and beaches of this rich and fascinating place. From the rustic beach town of Quepos to the steamy cloud forests of Monteverde, this itinerary is perfect for those who want a combination of activity (a local farm stay is included and there’s also the opportunity to catch some waves at Quepos) and just moseying through the Mercado Municipal de Artesanias artisan stalls in San Jose.

Love a hot spring? This trip allows you to experience La Fortuna’s lava-heated thermal springs, while looking out at the Arenal Volcano. Heaven on Earth? We think so.
