Energising workout no. 24: This sweaty, mobilising workout will wake up every inch of your body
1 min read
This heat makes standing up to re-fill your water bottle (again) more knackering than keeping tabs on the Tory leadership race, so it’s understandable that exercise is the last thing on your mind. But heatwave or not, moving is still the best way to beat lethargy – it just might mean extra sweat patches.
Don’t roll your eyes. This circuit can be done from your curtain-closed living room to avoid the midday sun and while you’ll begin with jumping lunges to shake off the fatigue, the rest of the workout sees you move more slowly. Strengthening moves like reverse lunges, overhead presses and press-ups will get the muscles working without overheating so you finish up feeling reignited. Just remember to bring your sweat towel and an extra big jug of water.
ENERGISER CIRCUIT: high jumps
Stand with your feet hip-width apart
Bend your knees and whoosh your arms forward as you tip forward onto your toes to jump
- Exaggerate the jump by engaging the core to bring your knees as high as possible as you move into the air
- Bend your knees as you touch back down
