 Terms and Conditions of Participation: Strong Women Trek: Surrey Hills & Strong Women Adventure Trek: Lake District

These terms and conditions apply to the participation in any events organised by The Stylist Group Ltd (the owner of Stylist Magazine (“us” or “we”).

Bookings, payments and cancellation

  • All ticketholders and participants must be over 18 and bring valid ID.
  • Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • There is one Trek route for 2025 in Surrey Hills. 
  • There is one Trek route for 2025 in Lake District
  • Only the registered ticket holder can participate and wear their assigned number.
  • Goody bag and medal will be available to collect at the end of the route and cannot be claimed afterward if participants have been unable to attend.
  • Contents of the goody bag is subject to change.
  • Every attendee will receive a Strong Women Trek T-shirt (unisex). To guarantee your desired size, this must be selected at checkout by 16 May. 
  • If participants start the route but are unable to finish on the day they will be eligible to collect their goody bag post event from the Stylist Offices located in central London. This will need to be at a pre-arranged time after the event and it will be the responsibility or the participant to contact Stylist and arrange.
  • Tickets do not include travel to/from the start/end of route and participants are responsible for their own travel.
  • Tickets for the Lake District do not include accommodation and participants are responsible for their own lodgings.
  • Start time for the Surrey Hills event is between 9am-11am. If you arrive after this time, we cannot confirm a member of staff will be available to register your arrival, therefore surrendering your participation.
  • The Surrey Hills course will be open from 9am-6pm
  • Start time for the Lake District event is between 9am-12pm. You must arrive at least 15 minutes before your starting wave in order to register your arrival. If you arrive after this time, we cannot confirm a member of staff will be available to register your arrival, therefore surrendering your participation.
  • Please note both events are outside and will go ahead on the arranged date regardless of inclement weather, it is the responsibility of the ticket holder to dress suitably for the weather conditions on the day

Health, safety and injury

  • To the extent permitted by applicable law, by taking part in this event, participants accept personal responsibility for any injury incurred unless the injury results from our negligence (our legal duty of care owed to you).
  • By taking part in this event, participants accept that the nature of the trek is challenging and should only be undertaken by those prepared, properly trained and medically fit.
  • By taking part in this event, participants accept that the underfoot terrain will be uneven maybe muddy and slippery in places and that vegetation along the route may require additional care and attention when passing through.
  • By taking part in this event, participants accept that there will be numerous occasions where they shall be required to cross roads and walk alongside the public highways. In doing so, participants agree to take care at all times when in the proximity to vehicles.
  • By taking part in this event, participants acknowledge that they have shown no signs of Covid in the 7 days leading up to the event.
  • Participants should contact a medical professional prior to taking part if they have experienced pain and/or difficulty from previous physical activity.
  • By taking part in this event, participants accept personal responsibility for any regular medicine requirements (e.g. Asthma/allergy medication).
  • All participants must provide an emergency contact at point of booking.
  • By displaying their assigned number participants are agreeing to abide by the safety requirements and rules as set out in their Trek pack.
  • Water will be available at the start/finish venue and mid-point venue of the route. However, participants must bring appropriate water and sustenance and should not rely on this offering to complete the trek.
  • First aid will be available along the route. However, participants must bring appropriate items to complete the trek, including but not limited to clothing, sunscreen, plasters, insect repellent or phone battery pack.
  • By taking part in this event, participants shall agree to keep the provided emergency contact numbers on their possession throughout the Trek.

Filming, photography and social media

  • We and our event partners and sponsors may film or take photographs (including flash photography) at events. Such films or photographs may be used (without limitation) in publicity and marketing materials (including our website). If you do not wish to appear in such films or photographs, then you must should notify Stylist either in writing prior to the event, or in person at the event registration, in which case we will use reasonable efforts to ensure that you do not appear in such films or photographs.
  • Unless you are told otherwise i) we encourage attendees to use social media to share comments and thoughts in relation to the event and ii) you may also share photographs on social media that you take at the event using your smartphone provided that you acknowledge they were taken at the event
  • Any images and posts made on social media using the event hashtag #strongwomentrek may be used (without limitation) by Stylist our or event partners in publicity and marketing materials (including our website).

Changes to events and force majeure

  • We reserve the right to change (at our sole discretion) the format, speakers, participants, content, venue location or any other aspect of an event at any time and for any reason, whether or not due to force majeure and (subject to clause 10) in each case without liability or refund. “Force majeure” shall include without limitation any event beyond our reasonable control and includes (without limitation) speaker or participant withdrawal, fire, flooding, a health scare, disaster, venue damage or cancellation, supplier or contractor failure, failures of any public transport and industrial disputes.
  • We reserve the right to cancel or change the date for an event at any time for any reason. In the event of a cancellation or change of date of an event by us (other than for reasons of force majeure), our only liability will be to offer you the option of a full refund for your booking or (where possible) attendance at any rescheduled date for the event. Any refund will be paid to you or your organisation within 30 days after the date of notification of cancellation/change of date.

Our liability

  • To the extent permitted by applicable law, and with the exception of the obligation to offer a refund or alternative date in the event of cancellation or change to the event date, we are not liable to you for any loss, delay, damage or other liability incurred by you or to your property and/or arising from the event itself; cancellation of an event; change of venue or date; or any actions or omissions of our suppliers, contractors or other participants.
  • All warranties, conditions and other terms implied by law (whether by statute, common law or otherwise) are excluded from these terms and conditions.
  • We are not liable or responsible for the content of any presentation, speech, publication or performance by participants or other members of the public at our events unless such individuals are employees or representatives of us and participating in their capacity as our employee or representative.

Miscellaneous

These terms and conditions (including in relation to any non-contractual obligations), as may be amended from time to time by us, are governed by English Law and the English courts have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising under these terms and conditions (including in relation to any non-contractual obligations).
