Getting married this year? These are the wedding trends predicted to be big in 2025 – from flowers and photography to entertainment – as spotted by those who work in the industry.

Planning a wedding can feel like a minefield. There are so many decisions to be made – grand or intimate, city or country, bright colours or muted, band or DJ – that you can easily become overwhelmed by the options.

If you’re not sure where to begin, paying attention to what’s trending in the world of weddings can be a great starting point for inspiration. Not only might you see something you didn’t even know was possible, but they can help you to better understand what you do and don’t want from your big day.

A wedding should be as unique as the couple getting married, so what’s most interesting is that many of the trends predicted to fly in 2025 tap into an overarching trend for personalisation.

“Couples today want their weddings to tell their unique stories, so personalisation will be at the forefront in 2025, from tailored menus to unique entertainment options that reflect the couple’s journey and personality,” says wedding planner Rebecca Brennan-Brown.

Here, experts who work in the industry reveal the top wedding trends they predict will be huge in 2025, from flowers and photography to venues and entertainment.

Bright, natural blooms

Wedding flowers are going more colourful, but also more natural for 2025. “We’re seeing a shift to more organic formations rather than polished aisle and table settings, as couples are taking a more artistic approach to their floral arrangements,” says wedding florist Olivia Brett of Fen Florals. “We also envisage a shift. Incorporating locally grown flowers and textural moss is a great way to achieve this look.”

Elevated photography

Wedding photographer Anna Tieni predicts that 2025 will see a combination of photography trends shining through to create an elevated experience.

“Couples want their photographs to not just tell the story of their big day, but to really capture the vibe,” she says. “To do this, more ‘imperfect’ photos are wanted – blurry, out of focus or at an angle, for example – to really evoke the feeling of the day. I’m also seeing an increase in demand for a mix of digital and film photography, such as with a 35mm camera, to capture moments in different ways. Additionally, using direct flash, even during the day, is a growing trend that adds another exciting element to wedding photography.”

Destination vibes in the UK

Do you have a destination wedding on your vision board but don’t love the idea of making guests travel abroad? Brennan-Brown predicts we’ll see a rise in popularity for UK venues that give the feeling of a destination wedding.

“While many couples dream of a destination wedding, we’re seeing a shift towards bringing those vibes closer to home,” says Brennan-Brown. “Think stunning venues that mimic the romance of Italian landscapes, from Mediterranean gardens to charming vineyards.”

Content creators

‘Wedding content creator’ is a job that didn’t even exist until a few years ago, yet wedding planning website Hitched.co.uk has seen searches for content creators surge by 586% in the last 12 months. Different to a photographer or videographer, a content creator will focus on capturing candid moments throughout the day that are made for sharing on your social channels.

There’s been a huge rise in couples wanting content creators for their weddings,” says Paula Heggarty, a wedding content creator. “It’s wonderful to see how unedited, in-the-moment photos and video captured by content creators are blending with the polished photos from professional photographers. I think couples are really embracing this – they want those authentic moments, and they want them quickly.”

Wedding photo apps

Of course, it’s not just your photographer, videographer or content creator who’ll be snapping away on your big day – your guests will be, too. As couples seek out new ways to capture their wedding day, searches for ‘wedding photo apps’, which provide a private digital gallery for guests to uploads their photos to, are up 56%. While disposable cameras were once all the rage at weddings, a wedding photo app offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative.

Zoe Burke, editor of Hitched.co.uk, says, “You won’t want to miss a moment on your big day. However, you can’t be everywhere at once, so by using a wedding photo app you’ll get a guests-eye view of your wedding experience.”

Short and floral wedding dresses

Hitched.co.uk has seen a 233% rise in searches for ‘mini wedding dresses’, while enquiries for ‘floral wedding dresses’ are up by 46% in the past year. As couples look to ensure their wedding is aligned with their own unique style, traditional dress styles are going out the window to make way for more fun and playful takes on bridal fashion. The trend for shorter wedding dresses also reflects the movement towards having multiple wedding dresses, as more and more brides opt to change into a ‘party’ style dress for the evening.

“Brides want to be comfortable and enjoy the evening for their wedding without being restricted in a long gown,”  says bridal boutique owner Charlotte Mills. “A mini dress is also the perfect opportunity to have a little fun and choose something which really reflects your personality.”

On floral dresses, she says: “With so many weddings embracing outdoor and natural settings, whether that’s a garden ceremony or a rustic woodland affair, dresses with floral details complement the venue or location of the wedding for a cohesive look.”

Heart-shaped cakes

The opulent, romantic aesthetic is another way couples are leaning into more playfulness with their wedding, and heart-shaped wedding cakes complete with ornate Lambeth piping play right into that look. Hitched.co.uk saw searches for heart-shaped cakes grow by 50% last year, while Pinterest searches increased by 200%.

“I think Bridgerton had a massive role in the high demand of the vintage heart cake,” says Jenny Rose, owner of Meet Cute Cakes. “The vintage heart cake is the epitome of classic romance.”

Live artists

Betrothed couples continue to look for new and exciting ways to personalise their wedding day, including with their entertainment and favours, and Google reports a 23% increase in searches for ‘live wedding painter’ over the last 12 months. By having a live artist drawing or painting the newlywed couple and their guests on-site, you provide everyone with a unique experience and keepsake to remember the day by.

“Wedding portrait painting is becoming so popular because people want more than just the usual group photos or favours. Having a live artist sketch guests in real-time adds a personal touch that people remember,” says wedding illustrator Claire Harding.

City weddings

While the country barn might have reigned supreme as the wedding venue of choice for many years now, Brennan-Brown predicts 2025 will see a move towards weddings in cities.

“In 2025, we’ll see more couples opting for city weddings, drawn to the vibrant energy and cultural richness of urban settings,” says Brennan-Brown. “City venues offer a modern, chic backdrop that can be beautifully styled, from industrial lofts to iconic hotels.”

Audio guest books

In another bid to personalise nuptials, Brennan-Brown is also seeing fewer physical guestbooks for people to sign and more audio guestbooks. “This innovative twist on the traditional guestbook captures the voices and sentiments of loved ones, creating a treasured keepsake for couples,” she says.
