Our edit of the most genuinely luxurious places to go glamping in the UK (so you can reconnect with nature without getting your hands too dirty).
There’s nothing more smug than a glamping trip – and why not, when you can combine comfort and gorgeous surroundings. If there was ever a time to book that trip you’ve been dreaming about, this is it. Few things are more enchanting than pitching up a tent in the middle of a hillside. Especially when what we really mean by ‘tent’ is ‘luxurious yurt’ or ‘geodome’ (fancy!). Oh, and when we say ‘pitching up’, we mean arriving at a ready-made paradise in the countryside with a kingside bed, hot tub, gorgeous views and really good toilets.
We’ve picked out some of the best glamping sites in the UK for your next summer break (and some lovely dog-friendly glamping options too). Here, you’ll find a mix of locations and accommodation styles but one thing’s for sure, they’re all fabulous.
Meon Springs Glamping, Hampshire
Set in the absurdly picturesque Meon Valley, Meon Springs offers plenty of activities with luxurious yurts and shepherd’s huts to collapse in afterwards. If it’s dog-friendly glamping you’re after, you’ll be delighted to hear that they welcome well-behaved dogs at no added cost – although they do draw the line at sharing your bed with them.
Where: Whitewool Farm East Meon, Petersfield, Hampshire, GU32 1HW
Sleeps: six (yurts), two (huts)
Price for two nights: from £130 (shepherd’s hut) and £165 (yurt)
Available to book: direct
Daffodil Glamping Pod, Rhayader
One of six glamping pods located in some of Wales’s most stunning scenery, Daffodil has every mod con you could wish for: underfloor heating, smart TV, dishwasher… and a hot tub – perfect for enjoying the starry nights (St Harmon is near the Elan Valley, an official Dark Sky park). Daffodil and its sister lodges are also dog-friendly, so you can bring your canine pals on holiday.
Where: St Harmon Pods, St Harmon, Rhayader, Powys, LD6 5LU
Sleeps: 4
Price per night: from £180
Available to book: Holidays Wales
Heather Yurt, Perth and Kinross
Perched on the edge of Alexander House’s grounds, you practically have a whole hillside to yourself when staying in this stylish and modern yurt.
The days will fly by lazing in the outside hot tub (which looks out across Gleneagles and the valley below), soaking in the roll-top bath in your yurt, snuggling up in the kingside bed and wandering the beautiful countryside around you.
Where: Alexander House, Duchally Road, Auchterarder, PH3
Sleeps: 2
Price per night: £265
Available to book: direct
Safari Tent, Devon
If you’re yearning to go glamping with a hot tub, this is for you. Brownscombe’s safari tents sit in a private valley that has been owned by the host’s family for 30 years. They’re perfect for slightly larger groups and can house four adults and two children if needed, and the tents are built onto wooden platforms, which feel more spacious than your usual camping experience.
Inside there’s an en suite shower room with piping hot water, flushing toilet, organic toiletries and even somewhere to charge your phone, as well as a fridge and electric hob. Outside there’s a hot tub and fire pit for toasting marshmallows.
Where: Brownscombe Luxury Glamping, Compton Holt, Compton, Marldon, Devon, TQ3 1TA
Sleeps: 4
Price for two nights: £680 (high season)
Available to book: direct
Pinwheel Treehouse, Dorset
Now this is what we call outdoor luxury. Pinwheel is one of three award-winning RIBA South West treehouses in this beautiful woodland setting. Enjoy the two-person swing on your private deck, try out the wood-fired pizza oven and barbecue, and enjoy this gorgeous setting with magical views and uninterrupted peace.
Where: Mallinson’s Woodland Retreat, Woodland Workshop, Yonder Hill, Holditch, TA20 4NL
Sleeps: 2
Price for two nights: from £790 on weeknights
Available to book: direct
Seren Mawr Geodome, Powys
Staying the night in a geodome takes the idea of modern camping to the next level. A five metre ‘clear picture’ window spans the inside of the dome, giving guests an incredible view of Bannau Brycheiniog (the Brecon Beacons).
There’s also a gorgeous collection of vintage furniture, snuggly blankets and throws to keep you warm. Our only warning is that the toilet is self-composting, so make sure you’re OK with that before booking.
Where: Argoed Barns, Talachddu, Brecon, Powys, LD3 OUG
Sleeps: 2
Price for three nights: £550
Available to book: Canopy & Stars
