A tiny wooden cabin in Cornwall which has just one split-level room for living, eating and sleeping, has been put on the market for £400,000.

Whilst the price tag wouldn’t be out of place for similar sized digs in some of London’s most expensive boroughs, the property’s stunning beach views and secluded location have helped command the hefty price tag.

Nestled on a cliff in St Ives overlooking one of Britain’s most beautiful beaches, it is so secluded that it can only be accessed by a footpath that winds along the cliff top or private steps directly from the beach.

The cabin boasts a small lounge area, with a sofa, coffee table and tiny kitchen with a single electric hob, fridge, microwave and sink. The double bed is squeezed onto the mezzanine level up a step ladder while tucked away below it is a small shower room with a toilet and sink. Outside there is small deck, where the owners could enjoy an outdoor shower whilst taking in the breath-taking view.

The nautical-themed property, known as The Cabin, is currently run as a holiday retreat and last year made £35,000 renting it out to visitors from all over the world. The lucky owners of the house will not only be able to enjoy the outdoor deck and shower, but will have nearly £21,000 worth of bookings already lined up for summer.

Beach huts start at US$5 million, while the private villas start at the eye-watering price of US$10 million. If that’s a little bit out of your price range, the private island also rents out rooms at its luxury hotel starting at £300 per night.

Necker Island, British Virgin Islands

Did you know that Sir Richard Branson’s home on Necker Island was available to rent? To privately rent the island, situated in the British Virgin Islands, will set you back £39,000 per night. During special ‘celebration weeks’ individual rooms can be rented out from £16,400 for seven nights, including all meals and drinks, plus private boat transfers to the island. To get there, you’ll need to take a nine-hour flight to Antigua, a second flight to Virgin Tortola and another 30 minute boat ride to Necker Island itself.

Topas Ecolodge, Vietnam

Situated on a hilltop deep in the mountains of Hoang Lien National Park, 45 minutes outside of Sapa town in Vietnam, is the Topas Ecolodge. It has 25 mountain lodges that can be rented out, made from local white granite. From your private balcony you can take in the stunning views over the endless valleys below which are dotted with secluded local villages. If you fancy a special dinner, the lodge can arrange for their head chef and a waiter to prepare a private hilltop dinner for you. The perfect destination from which to do some hiking in the surrounding mountains or to switch off and just relax. From £105 per person per night, including transfers.

Sossusvlei Desert Lodge, Namibia

There are just 10 small villas made of stone and glass at this lodge situated in the largest private nature reserve in Southern Africa, the NamibRand Nature Reserve. To get here you’ll need to take a chartered flight to the lodge’s private airstrip, or drive 248 miles over gravel and dirt roads from the capital Windhoek. At sunset, animals are drawn to the nearby waterhole and once the sun goes down, the stars will look like nothing you’ve ever seen before. From £280pp per night.
