London, Paris, New York - these trio of power cities are often considered the most visited in the world.

And while they're certainly popular, they're definitely not the only cities that should be on our radar.

According to market research firm Euromonitor International, Shenzhen in China, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and Istanbul in Turkey are three of the top ten cities that attract the most visitors.

Hong Kong beat London - which came in at second place - to the top spot with 27.7 million visitors in 2014.

The UK capital attracted almost 10 million fewer tourists (17.4 million people) however it went up from fourth space in last year's report.

Surprisingly, London was the only British destination to make the list of the 100 cities.

But perhaps the biggest surprise was that New York City came in at eighth place, below the likes of Singapore (third place), Bangkok (fourth place) and Macau (sixth place). 

Asia remained the dominant region for city tourism, sweeping over one third of the top 100 destinations. 

The report found that levels of growth in European cities are nowhere near the increases seen in other Asian metropolises and that now less than one third of the cities in the list are in Europe.
