Fun sober events: 8 workshops, events and activities that don’t revolve around drinking

3 min read

From tufting and painting to alcohol-free comedy nights, here are eight of the best workshops, events and activities that don’t revolve around drinking this dry January.

For many people, Dry January has firmly set in, but it can sometimes be tricky to find something to do with your friends that doesn’t revolve around pints in the pub or a couple of cocktails after work before an ill-fated round of baby Guinnesses to end the night. As soon as you stop drinking, it becomes quite apparent how much of our social lives involve alcohol or boozy settings.

In reality, though, there are plenty of activities – from workshops to classes and events – that are alcohol-free and just as fun as a cosy glass of red wine in the pub or a bottomless brunch. From sober comedy clubs to late-night coffee spots, this is our guide to the best non-drinking activities and nights out you can have in London.

Sober Girl Society events

Sober Girl Society has lots of different events coming up around the UK, but we’re particularly intrigued by its Boozeless Burlesque event to celebrate Galentine’s Day.

The 90-minute class, led by Evangeline la Pom, is all about finding confidence and feeling amazing in your own skin – without the booze. The session will guide you through the basics of striptease (no nudity required) and simple choreography, helping you tap into your inner confidence and have some sober fun along the way.
