Christmas 2023: the best London lights displays to visit this winter

Christmas lights are being switched on all over the city. Here are the very best (and brightest) to get you into the festive spirit.


November is here, which means it’s time for the city of London to start twinkling with miles of festive Christmas lights. Yes, you can start your gift shopping early or even try out a festive recipe or two ahead of the big day. But from the bustle of Regent Street to the colourful displays of Kenwood House, there’s really no better way to capture the magic of the holiday season than by looking up. 

So wrap up warm, grab yourself a mulled wine or hot chocolate and set your sights on the city’s brightest lights. 

When do the London Christmas lights get switched on? 

Covent Garden

Covent Garden

The classic Christmas tree and twinkling lights will be lit up on 7 November.


Oxford Street

Oxford Street

These iconic lights are being switched on from 2 November.

Regent Street

Regent Street

Regent Street will be lit up from 9 November.

Carnaby Street

Carnaby Street

The lights will be twinkling from 8 November. 

Chelsea

Chelsea

Chelsea’s Christmas lights will be illuminated from 18 November.


Leadenhall Market

Leadenhall Market

 Leadenhall Market’s lights will shine from 15 November.


Kew Gardens

Christmas at Kew returns on 15 November.


Marylebone Village

Marylebone Village’s lights will be switched on at 6pm on 9 November.
