Take a trip to the Veneto coast for the ultimate relaxing retreat.

It’s always a good time for a weekend (or longer…) on the Italian coast. But once you’ve packed your bag full of massive sunhats and gingham dresses, where do you actually stay? We’ve got the answer, and it’s in the form of a dreamy destination celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Behold the Casa Bianca al Mare Hotel, built in 1923 right on the Veneto coastline, in the pretty seaside resort of Lido di Jesolo. It’s got all the charm you’d hope for from such a historical building, with parapets and turrets galore, but a recent refurbishment has brought the interiors bang up to date. All this plus its seafront location makes it a dreamy destination for a relaxing holiday.

It’s also a place where you can go old-school with the set-jetting trend. The hotel served as the backdrop to a number of cult films in the 60s, such as Americano Rosso and Signore e Signori. It’s a location loved by celebrities, too, welcoming artists like Mina, Domenico Modugno, the Rolling Stones, and Ray Charles.

The grand property has 40 romantic seafront suites to choose from, along with a luxurious private pool and a park for afternoon strolls. The restaurant, Amarmio, offers fine dining that gives a nod to its surroundings with a menu that celebrates the sea. Under the leadership of chef Paolo Businaro, it serves up local dishes with a modern twist, along with a special edit of wines, all in a gorgeously renovated space.

Walk up the flower-lined pathway leading to the lobby and out to the terrace and you’ll find prestigious works of art created by the stylist Kenzo and sculptor Igor Mitoraj. In the lobby, you’ll be inspired by the stunning art nouveau interiors, with white walls set off by splashes of bright colour.

If you did fancy leaving the hotel (although we don’t know why you would), there’s plenty to explore, with Venice just a few kilometres away. With beach walks, the relaxing Caribe Bay and an area renowned for prosecco, this is a place to come and feel like your 9-5 is far, far away.
