There are plenty of beautiful islands to visit in Greece, but these are officially the 10 most picture worthy. And in the midst of an incredible summer and a new bout of Mamma Mia! madness, there’s no better time to explore one.

Mamma Mia! had our hearts soaring from the first time we saw it. We loved the songs, the feel good vibes, but most of all, the scenery. That gorgeous Grecian coastline had us all dreaming of doing a Donna, and packing up and heading off for a life of beaches and beautiful sunsets.

Now, with Mamma Mia: Here we go again! due for release, we’re preparing ourselves for another wave of wanderlust. But instead of staying on your sofa, why not start a Mediterranean adventure of your own at one of the most picture-worthy islands in Greece?

Luckily for us, London-based travel agency CV Villas has scoured social media to find the spots getting the most limelight on Instagram this summer.

Among the top 10 is Skiathos, the location where the first Mamma Mia! was actually filmed (although the second can thank Croatia for its backdrop), as well as equally idyllic islands including Paros, Naxos and Zante. If you haven’t booked your summer holiday yet, this could be the exact inspiration you need.

So grab yourself a summer holiday read, swat up on some travel tips, and get your Greek on.

Santorini has become a social media sensation, so it’s no surprise that the island as a whole has come out top as the most Instagram-ed of them all. Must-see sights include the iconic blue domed topped buildings of Oia and the underwater caldera.

2. Crete

The largest of the Greek Islands, Crete has got everything you could want when it comes to gorgeous hotels, experiences and activities. In fact, this huge variety might be why it’s ranked at the number two spot for most Instagrammable. Along with golden beaches, crystal seas and tucked away tavernas in quaint fishing villages, Crete also boasts a stunning national park, Samariá Gorge. Here you can snap impressive photos of the rock formations, rivers and stunning views.

3. Mykonos

If you love history you’ll be fascinated by Rhodes. It offers a taste of medieval life at its Old Town thanks to an impressively preserved castle that’s just waiting to be explored. The town of Lindos is also a great spot to visit. It’s white-washed buildings, winding lanes and beautiful beach provide many great photo opportunities to truly capture the spirit of the island.

Those venturing to Zante must make sure the famous Navagio beach, also known as shipwreck beach, makes an appearance on their Instagram stories. This stunning cove, with its electric blue seas and atmospheric ship wreck, has become a hub for photographers and sun-seekers alike.

7. Paros

If an archetypal Greek island is what you are looking for, then Paros is the one for you. The white buildings with accents of blue, authentic fishing harbours and peaceful villages are perfect for those looking for a relaxed slice of Greek life.

8. Kefalonia

Famed for being the filming location of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, Kefalonia is an island that’s certainly not lacking in sights to see and places to explore. Not just worth its weight in golden beaches – you’ll also find mythical-looking caves and coves to explore. Melissani Cave is the most, with local boat companies offering tours, so that you can see it up close.

9. Naxos

The largest of the Cyclades, Naxos has a fabulous mix of idyllic sandy beaches and historic towns and villages that are hive of culture. Visitors flock here to experience its impressive natural beauty and fascinating museums, as well as historic Greek ruins.

10. Skiathos

The island of Skiathos has surged in popularity in the last few years after being the main filming location of the film Mama Mia! In fact, there is an open-air theatre in Skiathos Town which plays Mama Mia! every week. Whether you’re a fan of the film or not, you’ll be no doubt charmed by the 60 plus beaches on the island, with beautiful blue waters and impressive shorelines.
