There are some surprising names on the list.
Every frequent flyer knows that a great airline can make or break a holiday.
There’s a big difference between arriving in your destination well-rested and well-fed or arriving disgruntled, dismayed and delayed. Especially if you’re flying very long distances.
TripAdvisor has polled its users and named the 10 best airlines in the world, and there are a couple of surprising carriers on the list. The number one most popular brand is Singapore Airlines, courtesy of its high quality service, plentiful entertainment options and clean, new fleet of planes.

Singapore, too, was recently crowned the city with the best airport in the world. More than 13 million travellers voted Changi into the top spot of the Skytrax World Airport Awards, recognising its indoor waterfall, delicious food options and leisure options for passengers on stopovers.
After Singapore airlines it was Qatar, Taiwan’s EVA Air, Emirates, Japan Airlines, Southwest, Azul and Air New Zealand.
Coming in at number nine is Jet2, the only European carrier to appear on the list and one of the few low-cost airlines to make an appearance.
According to one TripAdvisor user, Jet2 was “fantastic value for money” with a “quick and easy” check in process and “exceptional” service. “Very friendly cabin crew and a really good choice of refreshments,” they noted.
Currently, Jet2 flies to 73 destinations, mostly within Europe and other shorter destinations, in keeping with how Britons tend to travel. Some 86% of Brits took a holiday in 2018, with most taking more than three trips on average each year. Last year, solo travel was popular, with 16% of 25-44 year olds taking a holiday on their own. That trend is only set to increase in 2019.
Have you taken a solo holiday before? 2019 might be the year to do it. And if you booked on any of these 10 airlines, you know you’ll be taken care of.
