Tom Hiddleston has never been shy of championning women's rights, famously joining Emma Watson's #HeForShe campaign, alongside the likes of Steve Carell and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Now the actor has taken action against the portrayal of women in films, by getting naked in latest movie, Crimson Peak - to support his co-stars Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska.

In an interview with E!, Hiddleston was asked whether he had a problem with the male nudity in the gothic tale by Guillermo Del Toro.

First, he replied that it made sense because of the genre, saying, “I didn't have a problem with the nakedness because there's always been a strain of sexuality in gothic romance”.

Then he tackled the problem of women being objectified in films in the best possible way.

He added, “And also we just talked about, it's so often in movies that women are more naked than men and I think that's unfair and we wanted to redress the balance”.

This comes after Sienna Miller and Jennifer Lawrence found they were being paid far less then their male co-stars and a graph exposed the huge age gap between male actors and their female love interests in films.

So in a time where Hollywood sexism is still rife, it's refreshing to see a male actor stand up for feminism.
