Tina Fey suggested a Liz Lemon/Leslie Knope spin off and the internet is very excited
7 years ago
Actress Tina Fey has suggested the possibility of a Liz Lemon/Leslie Knope spin off – and the internet is loving the idea.
Liz Lemon and Leslie Knope: two fictional characters, from 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation respectively, that many women are unsurprisingly completely obsessed with. Enthusiastic: check. Slightly awkward: check. Feminist: check. What’s not to love?
So when Tina Fey suggested that a Lemon/Knope mash-up series might happen, the internet predictably lost its mind.
The conversation started on the Ellen Show, where Parks and Rec stars Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman were promoting their new series, Making It, a show where eight makers take on various projects to win approval of judges including the pair.
And when host Ellen Degeneres asked if the cast of the show would be up for a reboot, Poehler said she would “speak for everybody and say we would all do it”.
“I think we would all do it someday. It would be amazing,” she said.
And Tina Fey certainly seems like she could be on board, too.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about Poehler’s willingness to do a Parks and Rec reboot, the writer and actress said “maybe we should just do a Liz Lemon/Leslie Knope spin off”.
The internet, very surprisingly, was very, very excited.
Amy Poehler has been busy on other projects, so Parks and Rec might have to wait. She’s currently working on her directorial debut, Wine Country, a film staring Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell and Emily Spivey.
The film, about a group of friends visiting the Napa Valley for a birthday, will be on Netflix soon.
And until either actress has made any concrete plans to bring back their shows, you can catch us working on our night cheese.
