It’s official: the Spice Girls are playing an additional show in 2019

It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for – especially if you live in Wales.

We’ve lost count of how many times our hopes have been raised from talk of a Spice Girls reunion tour, only for them to be brutally squashed.

But finally are dreams have come true: Spice Girls our bringing back girl power in 2019.

The band took to Twitter on Monday 5 November, announcing the news to fans. And since then we’ve all scrambled to get our hands on tickets.

Last week, Emma Bunton (aka Baby Spice) teased the announcement on her Heart radio show, Jamie & Emma, saying: “After 3 o’clock today you will find out everything. I’m just so excited. I want it out there. It will be brilliant.”

“After 3 o’clock today you will find out everything. I’m just so excited. I want it out there. It will be brilliant,” she told co-host Jamie Theakston.

Over the past week, both a Twitter account (@SpiceGirls) and Instagram (@SpiceGirlsNet), have been created, revealing a new image of the four together in brightly coloured outfits.

Unfortunately, Mel B went on to reveal more details during an afternoon appearance on TV talk show, Loose Women last week, explaining that Victoria ‘Posh Spice’ Beckham will not be joining the group on tour.

“It’s just the four of us that are fully confirmed, but you know, Vic might join us at some point,” she said.

Asked if Victoria Beckham will attend one of the shows and then decide to join them, Mel said: “I hope so, I think it’d be a shame if she didn’t.”

She added: “She’s got a full-on life with all of her work commitments and her fashion line and her kids, so, she’s just kind of not committing just yet.”

The band have not performed together since the London Olympics closing ceremony in 2012.

Which is why everyone wants to go see them. So far, the iconic group has sold out three Wembley Stadium shows, three shows at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, and three dates in Edinburgh, Bristol, and Coventry since tickets went on sale on Saturday 10 November.

But now, the group has added another date, announcing that they’ll be kicking off their tour at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on 27 May 2019, and tickets will go on sale on Friday 16 November at 9.30am.

Take a look at the dates and venues below:

Wednesday 29 May: Manchester Etihad Stadium

Saturday 1 June: Manchester Etihad Stadium

Monday 3 June: Coventry Ricoh Stadium

Tuesday 4 June: Coventry – Ricoh Stadium

Thursday 6 June: Sunderland Stadium of Light

Saturday 8 June: Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium

Monday 10 June: Bristol Ashton Gate Stadium

Thursday 13 June – London – Wembley Stadium

Friday 14 June – London – Wembley Stadium

Saturday 15 June: London Wembley Stadium

And there will be a special guest appearance from Jess Glynne, too.

It may be over 20 years since they first appeared on our radar shouting “Girl power!”, but as one of the most iconic bands of all time, we think the world needs Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner (née Halliwell) and Melanie Chisholm back together again.

In the meantime you can read here all the great lessons we learned from one of the best bands on the planet.
