There was a time when an inspirational quote touched our soul, made us stop and think, perhaps re-framed how we viewed our life.
But thanks to the birth of Instagram, we’ve been bombarded by them, overwhelmed with pseudo-deep combinations of words that we quickly scroll past, rolling our eyes as we go.
Just last week it was revealed that people who post the meaningless quotes are more likely to have a lower IQ.
Now, author and Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg, has revealed that there are two motivational quotes that really help her to push herself on a daily basis.
According to Business Insider, throughout Facebook HQ, there are posters across the walls with quotes including ones that say ‘Move fast and break things’ and ‘Done is better than perfect,’ that are placed to encourage employees.
Answering questions on website, Quora, Sandberg revealed that she regularly plans her day according to the quotes, saying:
“Two of my favourites say ‘Ruthless Prioritisation’ and ‘The future belongs to the few of us still willing to get our hands dirty.’”
“Those posters influence how I plan my day,” she says, explaining how she will always make sure she can make it home in time for supper with her kids, and be stringent when it comes to discussing the whole agenda in meetings.
“I spend my time on what matters most, and I still get my hands dirty every day,” she continues.
Well, let that be a lesson to us all.
