The celebrity guest list for Rose Leslie and Kit Harington’s wedding included the likes of Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner and Peter Dinklage.
Last year, Game of Thrones fans all over the world were left overjoyed/heartbroken when they learned that Kit Harington had proposed to his former co-star, Rose Leslie. And, more importantly, that she had said yes, rather than growled a “you know nothing, Jon Snow” at him.
Now, the actors have tied the knot at a ceremony in Aberdeenshire – and they pointedly veered away from a red and murderous colour scheme.
Leslie wore a long sleeve ivory lace wedding dress, a white flower crown and cathedral veil and carried a bouquet of white roses. Her father, Sebastian Leslie – an Aberdeenshire councillor and the chief of the ancient Leslie Clan – dressed in a traditional Scottish kilt, escorted her.
Harington, meanwhile, wore a long black jacket over a cream vest, white shirt, black tie and grey pinstriped pants.
The reception was held in the grounds of the 900-year-old Wardhill Castle, and for good reason: Leslie, who has been with Harington for four years, is a descendant of King Charles II and the 12th-century castle has been owned by her family for the past 900 years.
Not such a wildling after all, eh?
“We are absolutely thrilled for Kit and Rose to be marrying today,” Leslie’s father told reporters before the ceremony.
“It’s an absolutely lovely day for us.”
Leslie and Harington opted for an intimate ceremony, inviting only their dearest friends and family.
However, somewhat unsurprisingly, this included more than a couple of their fellow cast members from the fantasy TV series.
That’s right: Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) were all in attendance, alongside Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), Joe Dempsie (Gendry), Richard Madden (Robb Stark) and John Bradley (Samwell Tarly).
However, it took Harington a while to persuade GoT producers to shut down the set and give everyone the weekend off for the happy occasion.
“I rang them up and I said, ‘I’m getting married and it’s your fault actually,” he previously shared on The Jonathan Ross Show.
“I was like, ‘You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding by the way.’ They [the cast] have all got to be there so the whole thing has got to shut down.”
The Game of Thrones stars, as well as Malin Akerman, Jack Donnelly and Marcus Mumford, joined Leslie and Harington’s friends and family on the path outside Rayne Church, near Inverurie, in order to shower the newly-weds with flower petal confetti.
The couple then got into an old Land Rover decorated with paper hearts and tin cans as they drove to the reception at nearby Wardhill Castle.
While we don’t know all that much about the ceremony, it seems likely that there will have been more than a few Game of Thrones nods – particularly as the show holds so many special memories for them.
Last year, Harington told L’Uomo Vogue that his best ever memory of the show were the three weeks in Iceland when they filmed the second season in 2012.
“Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love.
“If you’re already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love.”
