Rihanna is down to collaborate with Lizzo, and the internet is totally freaking out

We speak for everyone in the world right now when we say that “badass” Lizzo couldn’t be more perfect for a collaboration with the original Bad Gal RiRi.

You might have noticed that over the last few months, Lizzo has been on an unstoppable rise. What with her sensational performance at the 2019 VMAs, and earning her first-ever number one spot on Billboard magazine’s Hot 100 record chart with her empowering single “Truth Hurts”, it’s fair to say that Lizzo is officially winning at life.

With the accolades, awards and infectiously feel-good performances have come a string of celebrity fans, not least Beyoncé, who was pictured staring adoringly at the singer at the Made In America festival, in what can only be described as a real-life manifestation of the heart-eyes-emoji. Now, none other than Rihanna has signed up to the Lizzo Appreciation Society.

As the singer hit the red carpet at New York Fashion Week before her Savage X Fenty fashion show at the Barclays Centre, the music mogul couldn’t help sharing her love for the ascendant star.

“Gosh, I love Lizzo. She’s so badass,” she exclaimed, confirming that sign up to work with Lizzo in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose.

“I would collaborate with her on the lights for this interview right now, like Lizzo is so badass,” the original bad gal continued.

Rihanna, who has been hailed for her all-inclusive Savage lingerie, her groundbreaking makeup range, and her fearless representation in her ad campaigns, went on to explain that Lizzo perfectly epitomises the ethos of her brand.

“She is everything that Savage stands for. A confident woman, no matter what size, color, shape. Your attitude is what makes you savage. It’s the confidence that you have in yourself and it’s the confidence that you can give off to people who look like you and feel like you and those are the people that identify with the brand.”

Rihanna also explained that she recognised her power to positively change the lingerie world, given her cultural influence.

“Here, I have a unique opportunity to change things. I’ve always been so sincere with my perspective on this brand but to see the way that we’re perceived in the lingerie world,” she continued. “To see people feeling included it also puts a different pressure on me,” Rihanna said. “It makes me feel like now we cannot neglect those consumers.”

Understandably, when Lizzo caught wind of Rihanna’s endorsement, she totally freaked out.

” I WOULD SING THE BASS DRUM IN A RIHANNA FART JUST TO MAKE THIS COLLAB HAPPEN”, the “Truth Hurts” singer wrote in a hilarious tweet alongside a clip of Rihanna’s video.

Needless to say, the internet unanimously agreed, and came through with an array of hilarious gifs. One clever soul even coined the phrase “Rihzo” to celebrate the occasion.

We speak for everyone in the world right now when we say that Lizzo couldn’t be more perfect for a potential collaboration. The singer is, after all, a huge advocate of body positivity, constantly encouraging her fans to “love themselves” as she once resolved to do, a move which she credits as enabled her to defy mainstream beauty norms and embrace her own individuality.

We’ll be the first to update you if there’s any info about a future partnership. In the meantime, Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty show will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on 20 September. Mark your diaries!
