Rihanna just revealed the secret to her happy relationship (and it’s so simple)

Rihanna doesn’t often talk about her boyfriend Hassan Jameel, but the Fenty creator has opened up about their relationship in a new interview.

Rihanna is, without a shadow of a doubt, a modern icon. Not only is she a hugely successful singer, but she’s also a fashion designer, an actress (see Ocean’s 8 for further details), a philanthropist, the reigning queen of social media and a businesswoman, too.

So you can bet that when the Fenty boss decides to start dishing out her tried-and-tested advice, we sit up and pay attention.

Over the years, Rihanna has dished advice on pretty much everything: think running a business, staying true to yourself, and financial independence.

And the singer recently opened up about her relationship with Hassan Jameel when she sat down with actor and Ocean’s Eight co-star Sarah Paulson for an Interview magazine piece.

“I got into a new relationship, and it matters to me,” she said. “It was like, ‘I need to make time for this.’ Just like I nurture my businesses, I need to nurture this as well.”

Rihanna went on to explain that, in order to ensure she prioritises her relationship, she schedules personal days on her calendar so she has time to focus on it.

“I’ll shut things down for two days, three days at a time,” she revealed. “On my calendar we now have the infamous ‘P,’ which means personal days. This is a new thing.”

Rihanna went on to say that she wants a family “more than anything in life”, but added that she is more than prepared to wait for a time when she is ready to have children.

For now, she prefers to think of her many, many ventures – think her upcoming ninth studio album and her Fenty fashion and beauty brands – as the family she needs to nourish and grow,

“I used to be in the studio, only the studio, for three months straight, and an album would come out,” added Rihanna. “Now, it’s like a carousel. I do fashion one day, lingerie the next, beauty the next, then music the next.

“It’s like having a bunch of kids and you need to take care of them all.”

Rihanna confirmed that she was in a relationship back in May 2018, telling Vogue: “I used to feel guilty about taking personal time, but I also think I never met someone who was worth it before.”

While Rihanna refused to publicly confirm the name of her partner this time around (presumably because she wanted to maintain some modicum of privacy), the singer and beauty tycoon has always been candid and outspoken about her own relationship struggles in the past. Indeed, she has even shared her own heartbreak lessons on Twitter, in order to help those going through a break-up.

“Just believe that the heartbreak was a gift in itself! Cry if you have to, but it won’t be forever!” she told one fan.

“You will find love again, and it will be even more beautiful! In the meantime enjoy all that YOU are!!!!”

All hail Rihanna, goddess of keeping it real.
