Pink has slammed Dr Luke in a new interview with the New York Times, declaring that the record producer (real name Lukasz Gottwald) only has himself to blame for his ongoing legal battle with Kesha.
“I don’t know what happened,” said Pink, when asked about the Tik Tok singer’s claims that Dr Luke had verbally and sexually abused her.
“But I know that ,regardless of whether or not Dr. Luke did that, this is his karma and he earned it because he’s not a good person.”
As anyone following the story in the news will know already, Kesha filed a lawsuit again Dr Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald) in 2014 alleging, among other things, sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, gender violence and emotional distress over a 10-year period.
A judge ultimately turned down her request to be released from her contract with Sony's Kemosabe Records.
Pink – who last collaborated with Dr Luke over a decade ago – went on to explain that she has zero sympathy for his damaged reputation.
“I have told him that to his face and I do not work with him,” she added. “He doesn’t do good business, he’s not a kind person, he doesn’t do the right thing when given ample opportunities to do so, and I don’t really feel that bad for him.”
Pink is not the only person in the spotlight to speak out against Dr Luke: earlier this week, the rock band Eagles of Death Metal – who Kesha befriended when she was just 14 – admitted that they even considered getting violent with the producer over the case.
“When she was going through her s***, we were like her big brothers,” front man Jesse Hughes told Rolling Stone. “I was like, ‘Who do I f*** up? You want me to go to his place right now? You want me to beat that f***ing contract out of him right now? I will.’
“That's how strongly I felt about it. That's not even a lie, man.”
Various other stars have also spoken out to defend Kesha: Kelly Clarkson claimed that she lost “millions” because she didn't want to be associated with Dr Luke, Lady Gaga spoke about her own experience of assault in the music industry, Adele publicly vowed to support Kesha during her acceptance speech at the 2016 Brit Awards, Lena Dunham penned a Lenny Letter and Taylor Swift donated $250,000 (approximately £175,000) to “meet any of the singer’s financial needs”.
Kesha has since thanked Swift for her generosity, calling the Shake It Off star “a f**king sweetheart”.
“Very, very sweet, very, very genuine, extremely generous, picks up the phone every time I call her,” she added. “My mom doesn’t even always pick up the phone!”
