The nominees for the 2019 Academy Awards have been revealed. Here are all the women who received Oscar nods – from the biggest screen stars to the women making magic behind the scenes.
Of all the glittering ceremonies that make up awards season, the Oscars are the big one. If you’re an actor, director, producer or other film industry professional, being nominated for an Academy Award is all but guaranteed to strap a rocket to your career. If you’re a movie buff, the Oscar nominations will either make you feel validated (the Academy agrees with you about 2018’s best films!) or outraged (the Academy has no taste!). And if you’re a regular woman on the street, the Oscars provide the chance to revel in fantastical outfits and inspiring speeches.
The Oscar nominees for 2019 were announced by actors Tracee Ellis Ross and Kumail Nanjiani, who unveiled the shortlist on 22 January. There were few surprises in the Best Picture category, with A Star is Born, The Favourite, Black Panther, Roma, Blackkklansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, Vice and Green Book all getting nominations.

And while there are some frustrating categories when it comes to female representation this year (shout out to the Best Director shortlist, which is all-male once again!), there are also plenty of brilliant women who’ve received nods for their film work.
Below, we’ve rounded up every single one of this year’s female Oscar nominees, from actors to costume designers. Only one person can win in each category at the ceremony on 24 February – but we hope these women bask in the glow of their nomination for years to come.
