Miss Piggy the make-up mogul

Yes, that's right - cosmetics giant M.A.C. have recruited the pig-snouted one to front a new and "edgy" campaign, with the collection launching in February.

The advertisement (pictured) pays suitable heed to Miss Piggy's considerable talents with the tag line, "Icon. Actress. Supermodel. Chanteuse. Muse. Frog-o-phile. Cinema and television superstar nonpareil."

Miss Piggy the gorgeous guest judge

Yet more evidence that Miss Piggy is hot property comes with news that she's to appear as a guest judge on US reality TV show Project Runway All Stars this autumn, alongside supermodel Miranda Kerr and musician and producer Pharrell Williams.

A match made in porker heaven? We think so.

Miss Piggy the movie star

Having ruled the showbiz limelight for a full 37 years, Miss Piggy is a natural veteran of the movie world. Her film debut came in 1979 with The Muppet Movie, a smash hit swiftly followed by string of other big-screen parts including 2005's The Muppets' Wizard of Oz (pictured).

This autumn, she will reprise her role as Kermit the Frog's love interest, playing the plus-sized editor of Vogue Paris in the upcoming Muppets movie. Phew.

Miss Piggy the small-screen sensation

Of course, TV is where it all started for showbiz's most glamorous sow. She first hit our screens in 1974 on TV show Herb Alpert and the TJB. Two years later, The Muppet Show was born with Miss Piggy quickly eclipsing the fame of her co-stars - despite originally being cast in a minor role.

Miss Piggy the super singer

Like all theatrical pros, Miss Piggy is of course a dab hand when it comes to singing. Her TV debut saw her audition for music exec Herb Alpert with a heart-rendering rendition I Can't Give You Anything but Love (sensational, critics agree).

Over the years, she has left stars such as Elton John (pictured) in the shadows. In fact, country star Dolly Parton even threatened to "eat ham sandwiches" in 1987 after being humiliated and out-sung by Miss Piggy, during the swine's appearance on her musical variety show. In 2009, she delighted the public with a guest appearance on NBC show America's Got Talent.

Miss Piggy the boy group band aid

Not content with live performances, Miss Piggy has also got down with the kids in a series of cameos with leading boy bands. 2002 saw her appear in Weezer music video Keep Fishin,' while in 2008, she stormed it alongside the Jonas Brothers on Studio DC: Almost Live (pictured).

Miss Piggy the awesome author

Along with her musical gifts, Miss Piggy is also a talented pen-pusher. Proving there's brain behind the brawn, her 1981 advice manual Miss Piggy's Guide to Life was a New York Times bestseller for an astonishing 29 weeks.

The book encompasses nuggets of wisdom on everything from beauty (including the Ten Tone Commandments, which warn against braiding one's eyelashes or wearing yellow lipstick) to tips on dealing with depression (avoid any composers whose names begin with the letter 'D' as they are all depressing).

Miss Piggy the fierce fashionista

Let's not forget Miss Piggy's super-sharp sense of style in all this. Always known for her fashionable threads, the blonde one's latest movie role sees her model 12 costumes custom-made by US designer Zac Posen.

She was also a surprise guest at Chicago fashion extravaganza Macy's Glamorama in 2009 (pictured), with a Macy's party the same year celebrating her high-fashion ensembles - from a Burberry quilted gold trench to a custom-made blue kimono by Jason Wu.

Miss Piggy the chat show queen

With all her many talents, it's no surprise that Miss Piggy is in frequent demand for primetime chat shows - such as NBC’s Today Show and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (pictured).

And it's not all about America for this obliging hog - she's brought her charisma to the UK on programmes such as Avenue Of The Stars with Sir Trevor McDonald. With her new movie coming up, things can only get bigger for one of showbiz's most enduring legends...

Miss Piggy the celebrity schmoozer

And last - but not in the least bit least - Miss Piggy is an absolute magnet in the wonderful world of celebrity. When she's not busy schoozing with designers such Julien MacDonald (pictured), she's busy getting papped in her own right.

What an absolute star.
