Men 'rely on women' for style guidance

Two thirds of men rely on their wives or girlfriends to choose what they wear to work, a new study has found.

Roughly half are also physically dressed by their partners, the survey by men's fashion website Style Pilot discovered.

In the quiz of 1,000 men between 18 and 60, 30% of men said they were told what to wear or had clothes brought for them by their mothers, while a further one in six took advice from their mother-in-laws.

One in six participants admitted they accepted fashion guidance from women "for an easy life."

"Millions of men are relying on other women in their lives - particularly their wives or partners - to help choose what to wear to work so they look good not just at work but for other occasions," a spokesman for Style Pilot said.

"Coupled with the fact most men hate traipsing around shops on a Saturday, facing crowds and busy changing rooms means a large chunk of men tend to wear the same jeans at the weekend.

"They also have the same style of shoe or shirt and some have even feel this has held them back in life."
