A man in Florida accidentally threw his wife’s $10,000 (£6,340) wedding ring out with the rubbish.
Brian McGuinn had meant to throw out a disposable razor but chucked the one and a half carat diamond ring instead. By the time the couple realised what had happened, Waste Management had already picked up the rubbish and taken it to the local dump.
Not to be defeated, McGuinn arranged to sift through more than eight tonnes of rubbish at the site in search of the tiny piece of jewellery. And his filthy rummaging paid off as he emerged victorious. “Once I found it, I actually let out a manly scream,” he says.
