Oh, she’s a crafty one, that Emma Freud. The screenwriter and Red Nose Day director, who is currently working on the Love Actually reunion special, has been teasing the world with a steady drip feed of behind-the-scenes photos since filming began in February.

So far we’ve been given a glimpse of Liam Neeson with on-screen stepson Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Hugh Grant and Martine McCutcheon reprising their roles as the Prime Minister and Natalie, and a snap of Kate Moss.

Freud knows that by scattering these crumbs, we’ll be desperate to dig into the finished meal when the one-off Comic Relief special finally airs later this month. These tweets are tactical, and we are powerless to resist.

In the most recent behind-the-scenes snaps shared on Freud’s Twitter feed, we finally see the return of Peter (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Juliet (Keira Knightley) and Mark (Andrew Lincoln).

The relationship between these three characters has become one of the film’s most divisive subplots since the release of the original Love Actually 13 years ago. While many fans still believe that Mark’s whole ‘turn up on my best friend’s doorstep and silently declare my undying love for his new wife through the medium of cue cards’ routine was deeply romantic, others view Andrew Lincoln’s character as a seriously creepy stalker.

It also seemed doubtful whether Juliet and Peter’s marriage would go the distance, given that Juliet trotted off and snogged her husband’s best mate approximately seven minutes after their wedding.

However, according to photos shared by Freud, Jules and Pete are not only very much still an item – they’re living in “marital bliss”.

And coming to interrupt said marital bliss, with the inevitability of the sun rising in the east, is our old friend Mark.

Mark has clearly learned nothing in the last 13 years, and is still waving around bits of A1 paper and trying to get his friend’s wife to lie about there being carol singers at the door. (Which, given that Red Nose Day Actually is set to air on 24 March, seems like an even poorer fib than the first time around.)

One eagle-eyed fan, meanwhile, spotted the infamous doorstep scene being recreated on her street:

It remains to be seen how Peter, Juliet and Mark’s stories will play out in Red Nose Day Actually. However, actor Andrew Lincoln – who plays Mark – revealed in 2015 where he stands on the creepy/cute debate.

“[Mark] is a stalker,” Lincoln told The Wrap about his famous role. “That was my question to [director] Richard Curtis, ‘Do you not think we’re sort of borderline stalker territory here?’

“And he said, ‘No, no. Not with you playing it, darling. You’ll be alright.”

Red Nose Day Actually will air on 24 March on BBC One.
