Kelly Brook has taken part in a remarkable underwater shoot to highlight the global water crisis.

She's the latest big star persuaded by underwater photographer Candice Farmer to take part in a submerged shoot for charity fresh20.

When the Oscar-winning photographer discovered Brook was busy filming in the Greek Islands, she flew out to capture the stunning images, ahead of World Water Day on March 22.

The annual campaign draws attention to the global water crisis affecting billions of impoverished people without clean water and sanitation.

Brook said, 'I like the way Candice takes peoples environments and shifts that into the water.'

Farmer's signature style of ‘painting with light’ and her persuasive nature has enticed other big stars to lend their name to fresh20:

The photographer was drawn to the struggle facing impoverished communities as a child during a visit to Zambia and in 2007, she gave up her job as a fashion photographer to devote her time fully to the social enterprise.

Lily Cole was impressed she managed to hold her breath underwater for over a minute

The motto is, "give a hand-up, not a hand-out," said Farmer.

To date, fresh20 has created 115 wells and rain harvesting tanks; saving the lives of nearly 10,000 people.
