It’s been 20 years, but Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio will never let go of their beautiful friendship.
The BFFs have captivated the world ever since they first appeared on as screens as Jack and Rose in 1997’s Titanic. Remember when he tearfully blew her a kiss as she accepted her gong at the 2009 Golden Globes? Her utter joy as he finally bagged an Oscar? That joint interview on the Today show, when he dubbed her every bit as “beautiful and radiant as the day I met her”? When he gave her away at her wedding to Ned RocknRoll? The fact they still quote the James Cameron film to each other?
Or, we don’t know, any and all of their other amazing best-friend moments?
And now Winslet has revealed her most-treasured memory of the film that catapulted her to global fame (and him off a bit of wood) revolves around DiCaprio.
Speaking to InStyle on the red carpet of the Toronto International Film Festival, Winslet says of Titanic: “I remember so much of it like it was yesterday.
“I think the most special thing, the best memory I have, really was the cast and the lovely crew. For me that’s one of the best things about being in this business is getting to work with incredible technicians who are always great, committed, professional, fun people to spend time with and to go to work with, and we really had that on Titanic.
”And, of course, I walked away with one of the greatest friendships of my life in my back pocket, which is Leo.”
Winslet adds: “We know each other in a very unique way, I think, because of the experience we both had on that film and having to take care of one another.”

Of course, DiCaprio shares his close friend’s point of view.
Speaking to express.co.uk about his and Winslet’s “unbreakable bond”, he once said: “We were both just kids of 21 when we made Titanic all those years ago.
“But, even then, Kate seemed more mature and worldly than I was.”
DiCaprio continues: “I cried on her shoulder many times as we found the demands of filming under the director James Cameron so tough. We have never not been friends since that time.
“I speak to her all the time. But [we are forever] friends – not lovers.”

When asked what it is about Winslet he loves the most, DiCaprio is quick to praise her incredible “sense of humour”.
He adds: “We laugh at the same things. She never lets me take myself seriously, even if I wanted to.
“We have a special magic.”
It’s not the first time that Winslet has paid tribute to her best friend – and we doubt it will be the last.
Back in 2009, while accepting a Golden Globe, she told him: “Leo, I’m so happy I can stand here and tell you how much I love you and how much I’ve loved you for 13 years… I love you with all my heart, I really do.”
Talk about #friendshipgoals, eh?
