As a former captain of her school Hockey Team, we wouldn’t expect anything less from the Duchess of Cambridge.
Kate Middleton impressed with her dribbling skills when she met Team GB at the Olympic Park in London today, as part of her role as ambassador for the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
Wearing a pair of bright coral jeans, and blazer with an official Team GB supporters' scarf, the Duchess changed into a sweatshirt and Adidas trainers for her spell on the pitch with the National Hockey Team, scoring a goal with her very first shot.
According to The Telegraph, the Duchess was excited but very nervous to showcase her hockey skills, admitting “The last time I played was 2005, maybe. It feels like I haven't held a stick for ten years. This is going to be so embarrassing. My brain thinks I can do all these wonderful things but my body just doesn't play ball.”
But the Duchess is clearly still a natural with a hockey stick – as these pictures show.
Even England captain Kate Walsh was impressed: “She was really good. She told me that she missed playing as part of a team. She also told me that she used to hit the penalty corners and you could see that. She got low and her shots were really sweet.”
After her success on the pitch, the Duchess was given a white sleeveless team top with 'Cambridge 1' on the back.
It’s good to see the Duchess showing some support for the England Women’s Hockey team – who have high medal hopes for the 2012 Games.
