Why Jessica Chastain donated £1,400 to a troll on Instagram

Actress Jessica Chastain gave £1400 ($2000) to an Instagram troll for the best reason.

From actively fighting to close the gender pay gap to calling Time’s Up on sexual harassment in Hollywood, Jessica Chastain certainly uses her celebrity platform for good.

Now, she’s taken her status one step further by demonstrating the power of kindness in the best way possible.

Taking to Instagram on International Women’s Day, Chastain posted a photo of herself in a feminist tee with the caption, “FEMINISM: the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes.”

But the feminist post seemed to anger one social media user, who called out Chastain’s stance on abortion.

Karin Schulz commented, “Yes feminist that believe in God and stand up for The Unborn. I would be for that kind of feminist.”

Chastain, who’s voiced her opinion on being pro-choice - she even joined an IWD march for abortion rights in Poland in 2017 – decided to respond with kindness.

“Yes, you can decide what is right for you. I am pro-choice and I believe that everyone has the right to make their own decision,” the actress wrote. “I read about your journey to become a mother and it broke my heart. I hope that your dream will come true in 2018! Much love to you.”

Then Chastain donated £1,400 ($2,000) to the Schulz’ Go Fund Me page to help with their fertility struggles. Now, the couple have nearly hit their $5,000 (£3,600) target.

“You’ll be wonderful parents who teach love by example,” Chastain wrote in Schulz’ Go Fund Me comments. “Someday you’ll hold your baby. Don’t give up.”

Not everyone will always share the same views in life, but it’s important to show respect to one another, which is exactly why Chastain reacted to one person’s hate with love.
