Jennifer Lawrence got seriously sentimental when talking about her best friend Amy Schumer’s surprise wedding.
Amy Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence have, for a long time, been the Hollywood BFFs we didn’t deserve.
According to an interview Lawrence did with the New York Times back in 2015, the friendship started after JLaw saw Amy’s movie debut.
“I emailed her after I saw Trainwreck and said, ‘I don’t know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I’m in love with you.’
“We started emailing, and then emailing turned to texting.”
Since then, the duo have delighted fans with everything from their jet-skiing antics to dancing on Billy Joel’s piano – but, after both were nominated for the same category at the Golden Globes last year, Schumer told Entertainment Tonight that she and Lawrence had parted ways.
“The friendship is completely over,” she joked. “I just blocked her number. It’s over.”
Thankfully, though, Schumer’s low-key wedding album has confirmed that’s far from true: in fact, she sat JLaw in a prime position towards the front of the ceremony.
And now the Silver Linings Playbook actress has admitted that she blubbed her way through the entire thing.
Sitting down with Entertainment Tonight to talk about her new movie, Red Sparrow, Lawrence was able to dish a little bit about the wedding.
“It was beautiful,” she said. “It was very sudden, but it was.”
Lawrence continued: “I was sobbing the whole times, because his vows were stunning. It’s when two people really love each other and they really mean it, it shows, and it was a beautiful ceremony and an amazing time. I couldn’t be happier for them.”
However, this being JLaw, the actress couldn’t resist mixing in a little of her own customary dry humour, too.
When confronted with a picture of herself at the wedding, Lawrence noted that she had recycled one of her favourite red carpet gowns (a high-necked pink number from the Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini Spring 2018 collection) to the event.
“Notice my shirt was accidentally undone the whole time,” she laughed.
“In every wedding photo all of my buttons were undone. It looks like I was like, ‘Oh, you thought this was going to be about you?’”
All hail the power of female friendship.
