With just weeks until Meghan Markle is due to give birth, the world is at bursting levels of excitement.

But although we’re all on the edge of our seats to find out more, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer than expected to find out more details about Meghan and Harry’s newborn.

It should come as little surprise to learn that the pair are breaking with tradition. Ever since the beginning of their relationship, Meghan and Harry have made a point of doing things their own way, eschewing many of the royal protocols that Kate Middleton (aka the Duchess of Cambridge) and her husband, Prince William seem expected to adhere to.

But this new announcement, which comes straight from Buckingham Palace, might be one of the most impactful statements yet, as the royal parents-to-be have made it very clear that they will not be sharing any details about their new family until they are absolutely ready to do so.

This means the couple will not be posing on the steps of the hospital with their newborn, something which Kate has done with fresh-faced stoicism after every birth (resulting in an outpouring of sympathy from mothers and non-mothers alike, all of whom deemed it unfair the duchess had to pull on a pair of tights, apply make-up and be presentable in front of the entire world hours just after pushing a tiny human out of your body).

The statement said: [Meghan and Harry] have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private.

“The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

It is thought that when the time comes they will share any pictures that they see fit on the Duke and Duchess’s new Instagram account @sussexroyal – another first for a royal couple.

Until then, it looks like we’ll be kept in the dark about the littlest royal, but actually we think a bit of privacy sounds more than fair.
