Did you grow up to the sound of Summer Nights? Been to a Pink Ladies and T Birds themed dress-up party? Then it may surprise you to know that Grease is about to turn 40 years old. Though on the upside, for super fans of the musical, Olivia Newton-John has revealed we could be getting a cast reunion to celebrate.
Newton-John revealed the news as she collected an Icon Awards at the Fame Awards in Las Vegas earlier this week. Speaking of herself and Danny Zuko actor John Travlota, she hinted at celebratory plans for the film’s milestone, saying: “We are thinking up ways. Nothing to announce yet.”

She added “[Its the] Forty years anniversary of Grease, which I can’t believe. Time goes so fast. It is exciting.’
The singer previously hinted about reunion plans on This Morning, saying: “I don’t know if I can get the rest of the cast, I’m sure I can get a lot of them, we’ll see what happens, but I’d love to do it.”
Released in 1978, the movie was adapted from the 1971 musical about a pair of teens who fell in love over the summer in the ‘50s and return home to discover they’re attending the same high school. It still boasts a cult following, and its two anthems ruled the charts with sixteen weeks at number between them in the US following its release.
40 years on, we’d settle for just Newton-John and Travolta recreating that famous You’re The One That I Want scene.
C’mon, make it happen!
For now, we’ll leave you with this:
