Game of Thrones: the best and funniest Instagram posts from GOT stars at the premiere

Every single behind-the-scenes snap from a “lit” Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Lena Headey and more…

Our watch is almost ended, Game of Thrones fans: on Monday 15 April, the eighth and final season of the HBO fantasy series will finally hit our TV screens, bringing the George R R Martin adaptation (which has gone far beyond the books at this point) to its undoubtedly epic conclusion.

For many fans, it is an emotional time. The end of an era, you might say. But it is even more so for the stars of GOT, who have worked on the series for years now, many of them beginning their careers on the Game of Thrones sets.

So, on 3 April, the stars of Game of Thrones, including Emilia Clarke, Gwendoline Christie, Kit Harington, Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner, walked the red carpet in New York for the premiere of its final season. And they made a point of seeing the series out in serious style.

It has been two years since the last series, but on Wednesday night actors from every season of the show appeared at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Which means that characters we haven’t seen in a very long time (think Jason Momoa’s Khal Drogo and Jack Gleeson’s Joffrey Baratheon) mingled with those who have survived the bloodiest series in TV history, drinking, laughing, and reminiscing on old times.

Of course, the official red carpet photos were exquisite. However, the best snaps from the night were taken by the actors themselves, all of which have since been posted to Instagram.

Here are just some of our favourites…

Game of Thrones first aired on HBO/Sky Atlantic in 2011. Now, the show will air the last six episodes, and will finally reveal who will sit on the Iron Throne.

Or, y’know, nobody wins and everyone dies. Either or.

Roll on the 15 April, already!
