Natural disasters can bring out the best and the worst in people – but Hurricane Irma has established actor Kristen Bell as a bona-fide superhero.

Before the storm touched down in Florida, it seems Bell made it her mission to help those trapped there to find safe shelter – and Josh Gad, who starred alongside her in Frozen, has since taken to Instagram to thank her for doing the same for his loved ones.

Sharing a photo of his folks with Bell, Gadd – the voice of Olaf – wrote: “So @kristenanniebell literally saved my parents and my entire family tonight from #hurricaneirma.

“When they were stranded in Florida, she got them a hotel room at her hotel in Orlando and saved them, my brothers, my sister-in-law and niece and nephew.

“They don’t make them like this girl. Thank you Kristin.”

And Bell didn’t stop there: the actor also helped evacuate the grandmother and aunt of Dexter’s Jennifer Carpenter, after learning that they had barricaded themselves in their home while wearing helmets.

Continuing her run of awesomeness, Bell then went and performed for a group of children and their parents at a school currently being used as a hurricane shelter.

In a video posted by Meadow Woods Middle School, Bell can be heard singing the incredibly catchy Frozen song, For the First Time in Forever.

“I hope maybe some of these songs are running through your head the rest of the day and will take your mind off [Irma],” she tells the crowd.

The school has since taken to Twitter to thank the star, writing: “Thank you so much @IMKristenBell for stopping by and encouraging us with your beautiful voice and positive message.

“Continue spreading joy!”

While millions were able to evacuate Florida ahead of the hurricane, Bell was one of the many who could not.

On Instagram, she explained that she and her husband, Dax Shepard, were doing their best to “stay positive but cautious” – and, above all else, help others wherever and whenever they could.

“We’re trying to help those who need help prepping,” Bell said.

“Every person I passed today was assisting someone else, [and] it was beautiful to see. Sad that a hurricane has to bring out the best in everyone, but happy that the community will be holding hands through this.

“I’m grateful to Gary and the team at @swandolphin in Epcot for helping us feel safe while we get through this together.”
