Emmy Rossum chose a seriously chic wedding dress for her NYC nuptials

It was reported that Emmy Rossum and Mr Robot creator Sam Esmail tied the knot on 28 May, and the Shameless actor herself has now confirmed the news with a candid wedding snap.

Taking to Instagram, Rossum shared a snapshot from inside New York City’s Central Synagogue, which had been decked out with a huge floral arch crafted from white roses.

Standing underneath it, Rossum – dressed in an embroidered off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera wedding dress – can be seen smiling at her 39-year-old partner, who she famously collaborated with on her 2014 film, Comet.

For those desperate for a closer look at Rossum’s bridal gown (not to mention that dramatic train), then don’t despair: there are more than a few photos floating around on social media at this point.

The House of Herrera shared a photo of Rossum in her wedding dress, as her proud mum, Cheryl (who famously raised Rossum alone) looked on emotionally.

They captioned the post: “The elegant @emmyrossum wore a custom #CarolinaHerrera wedding gown yesterday to her nuptials in NYC.”

And her friend and designer Dorie Golkin Smith shared a black-and-white photo of 30-year-old Rossum in her gown, writing, “No words can describe the love and joy that filled this weekend.”

It goes without saying that Rossum was joined by her Shameless castmates for the big day, which ended with a big reception at the Guggenheim Museum.

Eagle-eyed fans of the TV show immediately picked out William H. Macy, Jeremy Allen White, and Shanola Hampton in the congregation – although it was hardly a difficult spot, considering Hampton made it her mission to share as many photos from the big day as possible on her own Instagram feed.

Rossum recently opened up about her relationship with Esmail, and revealed that his proposal caught her by surprise (particularly as she was in the bath at the time).

“We have a tradition of reading the ‘Modern Love’ section of The New York Times every Sunday,” she told Vogue. “I do a dramatic reading of it for him. Even if we’re not in the same place, I read it to him over the phone.

“Then one weekend we didn’t read it – I don’t remember why exactly – and the following Friday he reminded me that we hadn’t. So I got in the bathtub with the ‘Modern Love’ section as he’s posted up on the sink.

Rossum continued: “I didn’t notice any kind of ring in his pocket, and I began to read the article, and the story is about a director who falls in love with an actress, and I started to think: ‘Huh, that’s strange’.

“And then I realised that it was our love story... so I got out of the bathtub wrapped in a towel, got cold, and then got back in the bathtub because the stories are quite long. And then by the time I finished the story he was down on a knee in the bathroom, with me in the tub.”
