Eat Pray Love arrives in cinemas

Julia Roberts' latest film, Eat Pray Love, opens in cinemas on 24 September, and - after seeing an early preview in the screening room of London's Soho Hotel - Stylist can recommend booking tickets now.

The film - based on Elizabeth Gilbert's 2007 memoir which has shifted a whopping six million copies to date and became somewhat of a self-help manual for scores of women on its release - tells the true story of Liz (Roberts), a successful career woman whose recent divorce leaves her lost, confused and yearning for something more.

Stepping out of her comfort zone, Liz embarks solo on a trip (read: quest for discovery) around the world which sees her find a joy of food in Italy (note: you'll want to go for pizza straight after this movie); the power of prayer in India, and, finally and a sense of inner peace and harmony in Bali.

Even if you find Gilberts a little annoying (much as we loved Roberts in this role, Liz is a bit too glass half-empty for us, frankly), the film's very inspirational in an it's-never-too-late-to-up-sticks-and-follow-your-dreams way and we dare you not to leave the cinema without a burning desire to book flights to somewhere exotic and very, very far away. As well as travel guide-like landscapes, there's also a male actor for everyone, from a heartbroken Billy Crudup to a bohemian James Franco and hopelessly romantic Javier Bardem. Enjoy.
