David Beckham’s brilliant video of Harper celebrating Women’s World Cup result goes viral
6 years ago
As proudly reported by Stylist last night, England is through to the semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup, thanks to a whopping 3-0 victory over Norway.
And it seems we weren’t the only ones who were moved by the result, as David Beckham – oh he of the infamous right foot – has shared a photo of his and Victoria’s daughter, Harper, celebrating the result.
“Well done Lionesses,” the seven-year-old tells the camera, while wearing her England shirt and a Rosie the Riveter headscarf. “We’re so proud of you!”

Beckham later shared a video of Harper playing football on a darkened pitch, revealing that “this is what happens when you get inspired by the lionesses”.
“Thank you for inspiring Harper and the next generation of Lionesses,” he added, addressing England’s World Cup squad directly.
Beckham and his daughter were lucky enough to spend the day with the Lionesses ahead of their match at the Le Havre stadium.
“So lucky to get to see the girls before tonight’s big game,” he said, sharing a photo of himself and Harper smiling alongside Lucy Bronze, Ellen White, Jill Scott and the rest of the team.
“As a player I know exactly what it means to play in these competitions and to have the support from home which means so much,” he continued. “I just want to say how very proud we all are of every single player, they are doing amazingly well and the whole country is behind them.”
Beckham added: “As you can see Harper was so excited to meet the team and is so excited for the game.”
Beckham previously opened up about his daughter’s footballing ambitions when talking to Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain.
“It was the best thing I’d ever heard,” he said.
“Obviously I’ve bought her football kits over the years, and as soon as she comes down [wearing the football kits] and says, ‘Mummy look’ it’s the same kind of reaction that she got when [Victoria] heard that she wanted to be a footballer.”
Beckham continued: “We were outside playing football the other day and she had a really pretty dress on and a pair of pink football boots. I then sent Victoria the video, so I think that was also a dagger in her heart but I love it, I love it!”
