Cold Feet: new cast photo released ahead of reunion series

Our love affair with Cold Feet began way back in 1997, when we were first introduced to friends Adam and Rachel, Pete and Jenny, Karen and David.

The show was an immediate hit, quickly cementing its status in British television history, and picking up a cool 20 awards across the five series – including a handful of British Comedy Awards, an International Emmy and a BAFTA.

After 33 incredible episodes, fans everywhere gathered around their televisions for Rachel’s funeral – and to bid goodbye to the show for good.

Or so we thought.

Because now, over 13 years later, the Cold Feet cast have reunited for a special eight-part series of the show, which will air this autumn.

And, as if that wasn’t exciting enough, ITV have now dropped their first promo shot of James Nesbitt, Robert Bathurst, Hermione Norris, John Thomson, and Fay Ripley together again.

Check it out:

The only person missing is, naturally, Helen Baxdale, who tragically won’t be able to reprise her role as Rachel… unless there’s a dream sequence or two scheduled in.

Hey, we can hope, can't we?

The ITV series will pick back up with the lives of the characters as they reach middle age, giving stalwart fans the chance to find out what the friends have all been up to over the past decade.

How did Adam cope following Rachel’s death, for example? How are David and Karen working together to raise their children following their split? And what are Pete and Jenny up to?

Creator Mike Bullen told What’s On TV: “This feels like the right time to revisit these characters, as they tip-toe through the minefield of middle age!

“They’re 50, but still feel 30, apart from on the morning after the night before, when they really feel their age.”

He added: “They’ve still got lots of life to look forward to, though they’re not necessarily the years one looks forward to!”

The show will be returning to ITV in autumn 2016.
