Everyone loves John Legend’s new song, but Chrissy Teigen wrote it

The couple and their two adorable children star in a new commercial featuring one very catchy jingle.

Is there any moment in the life of John Legend and Chrissy Teigen that doesn’t seem like a whole lot of fun?

In a new commercial for Pampers, the Legend-Teigens prove that even changing a nappy is a joyous, musical celebration in their household. The commercial, which features Legend, Teigen and their two children Luna and Miles, starts with Legend unfastening one of Miles’ dirty diapers.

“Somebody’s got a stinky boooo-” Legend says, pulling a face at what the nappy contains. “I’m gonna need some back up on this one,” he adds, looking past Luna to the full men’s chorus, complete with babies in carriers, who just happen to be chilling in his living room.

Legend and the chorus then proceed to launch into a soulful jingle about stinky booties. “Somebody’s got a stinky booty,” Legend croons. “Booty, booty, booty,” the chorus echoes. In another room, Adam Levine of Maroon 5 joins in with the jingle as he changes his baby’s nappy. “And daddy’s gonna clean it up,” Levine sings.

It’s at this moment that Teigen arrives home, startled by the ensemble currently performing in her living room. “Must we do this every time?” she says, exasperatedly. And, scene.

The commercial premiered during the Super Bowl to instant social media acclaim. In particular, fans loved Legend’s catchy nappy-changing song.

The song is certainly catchy, and when given the full John Legend treatment, we could even imagine it reaching the top of the charts.

But it’s actually not a John Legend joint. According Teigen, it was she who penned the lyrics and wrote the tune in the first place. And she wants all the credit.

“Honestly a lot of people don’t know this, and John and I fight about this, but I think I was the one who came up with the song in the first place,” Teigen told POPSUGAR. “I want full writing credits! Stinky Booty is a Chrissy jam.”

Teigen added that, perhaps, Legend came up with the music. But it was definitely she who wrote the lyrics, back when the pair first became parents to daughter Luna, now two. “We have a minor discrepancy over who created it - I think I might have come up with the tune and the words, and he came up with more of the tune? I don’t know,” she said. “But he has been singing it to Luna since she was born and then it transferred on to Miles. It’s a really adorable thing that’s become his thing with the babies, which is wonderful.”

Once fans knew the truth, they started campaigning for Teigen to get the respect that she deserves.

Stinky Booty is indeed a jam, and we need to make sure that Teigen gets full credit for all of its catchiness.
