Chrissy Teigen fires back after people criticise her “topless” breastfeeding photos
7 years ago
Chrissy Teigen is reducing taboos around breastfeeding, one social media post at a time…
From leaking her own private text messages in the name of comedy and celebrating stretchmarks, to rejecting that annoying #relationshipgoals hashtag, Chrissy Teigen is a genuine Twitter treasure.
Over the past few years, the model, chef and TV presenter has set herself apart from other celebs on social media – pretty much solely for the reason that she doesn’t have a publicist sat by her side to carefully monitor each and every single one of her posts before she publishes it.
Instead, she keeps things honest and hilarious AF (which is how she wound up getting blocked by President Donald Trump) – and refuses to let anyone make her feel bad about anything. So, when someone dared try to shame her for sharing a snap of herself breastfeeding on Instagram, she made a point of clapping back. Hard.
In the photo, which was shared on Saturday (7 July), a topless Teigen can be seen nursing her one-month-old son Miles and – somewhat amusingly – a plastic doll.
“Luna [is] making me feed her babydoll so I guess I have twins now,” she captioned the shot.
The majority of people – including Jordin Sparks (“On a scale of one to 10, I CAN’T!”) – enjoyed the candid snap. However, as ever, there were those who decided their negative opinions of the photo were worth making public.
“But why get topless?” asked one, clearly not understanding the basic concept of breastfeeding. “Even Luna wants to cover her mum up.”
Teigen responded: “It’s just food, girl. He’s eating. Don’t blame me for your weirdo titty issues.”
Taking umbrage over Teigen’s casual response, another social media user responded: “Christ in a hand basket. Menstruating, childbirth and sex are natural, too, but that doesn’t mean I want to see pics of it and/or celebrities like @chrissyteigen taking a bath or nursing. We get it!”
Cue Teigen’s best clap back to date.
“I don’t care to see grainy fireworks, Coachella selfies or infinity pool pics, but I let people live” she tweeted back.
“Calm your tits and scroll on by.”
Or, in other words, mind your own damn business.
Proving she hadn’t been affected by the negativity, Teigen shared another pre (or post) breastfeeding photo to her Instagram Story the following morning (8 July). All hail the Sports Illustrated model for doing her bit to free the nipple and reduce some of the taboos around motherhood, eh?
