Whether you know him as Parks and Recreation’s Andy Dwyer, or Guardians of the Galaxy’s Star Lord, there’s no denying that Chris Pratt has fast become one of the most beloved stars in Hollywood. Which is why the 37-year-old was presented with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame over the weekend.
However, in an emotional speech, Pratt explained that he would never have got to where he is today without the help of all the powerful and inspiring women in his life.

Speaking first to his mother, Pratt said, “She gave absolutely everything she had to raise us, every fibre of her being. And oftentimes we weren’t cash-rich, but we were never love-poor.
“You gave everything and you were always proud of me, way before this. When I was a waiter at Coco’s you just couldn’t get enough of me.”
Pratt went on to thank his sister, Angie, saying: “She taught me how to fight, she taught me how to value emotions, she taught me how to have a backbone and she made some profound sacrifices for our family, so that I could be down here chasing my dreams.”
And then Pratt turned his attention to his wife, Anna Faris.
“I want to thank my wife Anna,” he said, turning to speak to her in the audience. “I love you. You’ve given me so much. You gave me the greatest star in the galaxy in my little boy, I love him and I love you.”
Wiping away tears, he went on to say: “We have bonded to make this molecule that is more important to me than air or water, and without it none of this means anything to me. With every challenge, with every day, week, month, decade, we become more bonded. You make me laugh like nobody else. You’re very caring, and thank you for your trust and your sacrifice – and for your dedication and your heart. I will do my best to protect it, and in return I will give you all of those things as well.
“You have my heart, my dedication, my trust.”
Faris also stepped up to the podium to give an emotional “thank you speech” in honour of her husband, saying she was the beneficiary of all this because she gets to spend every day with “this wonderful man”.
Explaining how Pratt supported her when their young son, Jack, suffered health problems as a baby, the Mom actor said: “He stood by me, and held me, and was my anchor.”
Faris continued: “I know that if our circumstances were different and we weren't as fortunate to be standing here and living our Hollywood life, we would be happy in the woods together, I think.”
And then, because it wouldn’t be a true Faris speech without a dash of comedy (there’s a reason she starred in Friends and Scary Movie, you know), she decided to share an extra-special anecdote about Pratt.
“At the premiere of Guardians 2, on the red carpet he whispered something unbelievably inappropriate into my ear and it was awesome.”
So what was it he said?
Faris confided: “[Pratt told me], ‘Honey, I want to thank you for being the most incredible person. I love you so much.’”
