The new ice bucket challenge: Nigella, Naomi Campbell and Jemima Khan pose with bed hair for #wakeupcall campaign

We'll admit it, we're not at our most beautiful first thing in the morning. Unruly bed hair, crusty eyelids and pillow marks all conspire to make us less than photogenic. And that's even before you factor in the bleary-eyed just-woken-up fug that descends like a cloud the moment our alarms go off.

So we salute this batch of celebrities who have shared just-woken-up snaps of themselves on social media for the #wakeupcall campaign in aid of those affected by the conflict in Syria. Making donations to Unicef, the likes of Nigella Lawson, Naomi Campbell and Daisy Lowe have nobly posted wake-up photos of themselves from the comfort of their duvets, in what looks set to be the next Ice Bucket Challenge

Jemima Khan was one of the first people to leap on the #wakeupcall bandwagon, with Mariella Frostrup, Stephen Fry and Ruby Wax all picking up the mantle to follow suit.

We particularly like Laura Bailey's contribution - the model really went for it on the untamed hair front. And we can all recognise the baffled just-woken-up expression of actress Keeley Hawes.

Come see who else has taken part in the #wakeupcall challenge to date, below. You can contribute to the Syria Children's Emergency Fund via Unicef by texting SYRIA to 70007 to give £5, or by visiting wakeupcall.org.uk

Brace yourselves, folks - this challenge will be all over your Twitter and Facebook feeds by the end of the week...
