Have you ever scrolled through Cara Delevingne’s Instagram feed and thought, “You know what, I just don’t know enough about this person?”
Well, my friend, today is your lucky day. In a surprise announcement, it’s been revealed that a documentary about the dramatically-browed one is set for release within the next few months.
The Cara Project will follow Delevingne’s life as she makes the transition from model to actress, Variety reports.
Delevingne, 24, started modelling at the age of ten with a shoot for Vogue Italia (as you do). She shot to fame after being cast in Burberry’s spring/summer 2011 campaign, and swiftly became one of the world’s most in-demand supermodels.
But she’s since moved away from fashion to focus on establishing an acting career, appearing in films including psychological thriller The Face of an Angel (based on the real-life story of Amanda Knox), coming-of-age movie Paper Towns and comic book blockbuster Suicide Squad.
And although Delevingne still dabbles in the fashion industry – she was recently revealed as the new face of Rimmel cosmetics – it looks as though she won’t be returning to the catwalk full-time anytime soon. She told The Times in August 2015 that working in the fashion industry made her “hate [her] body” and took its toll on her physical and mental health.
“I was like, fight and flight for months. Just constantly on edge,” she said. “It is a mental thing as well, because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse.”
“Modelling just made me feel hollow after a while,” she added. “It didn’t make me grow at all as a human being. And I kind of forgot how young I was. I felt so old.”
Delevingne also criticised some of the sexually suggestive shoots she felt pressured to take part in as a teenage model. “I am a bit of a feminist and it makes me feel sick,” she said. “It’s horrible and it’s disgusting. You start when you are really young and… you get subjected to… not great stuff.”
There’s no firm release date as yet for The Cara Project – but given that Delevingne has a combined social media following of over 41m, we’d say that it’s set to be a success.
