Beyoncé is without a shadow of a doubt one of the world’s greatest entertainers, artists and musicians – and now she’s letting fans into the secret behind her 2018 Coachella performance.

Homecoming: A Film By Beyoncé was first hinted at earlier this month but now a trailer has dropped confirming its existence.

Beyoncé fans around the world are guaranteed to be delighted by the video, which features a voiceover from the late, great Maya Angelou. (Feeling inspired? Here are more of Maya Angelou’s best quotes.)

Viewers hear the poet and civil rights activist say: “What I really want to do is be a representative of my race, the human race.

“I have a chance to show how kind we can be, how intelligent and generous we can be.

“I have a chance to teach and to love and to laugh, and I know that when I’m finished doing what I’m sent here to do I will be called home.

“I will go home without any fear or trepidation about what is going to happen.”

The voiceover is a snippet from Maya Angelou’s interview with CBC’s George Stroumboulopoulos from 2013. Scroll down to watch the video, filmed just one year before the poet’s death. 

The trailer continues with behind-the-scenes videos of the star performer wearing little-to-no make-up as she sits backstage talking to friends – proving the goddess of pop music enjoys downtime too.

The documentary will be released on 17 April, on Netflix. “Homecoming traces the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement,” Netflix said.
