Whether she’s speaking out in support of the body positivity movement, or campaigning for better representation in the fashion industry, Ashley Graham has been keeping it real from the start.

It makes complete sense, then, that the supermodel is sticking to her non-nonsense approach to life and love with a very special announcement on Instagram today.

“Surprise!” they both exclaim in unison, before panning the camera away to reveal Graham’s burgeoning baby bump.

In the caption, Graham revealed her decision to share the happy news on the couple’s 9th wedding anniversary.

“Nine years ago today, I married the love of my life,” she wrote. “It has been the best journey with my favourite person in the world! Today, we are feeling so blessed, grateful and excited to celebrate with our GROWING FAMILY! Happy anniversary, @mrjustinervin, Life is about to get even better.”

Ervin also shared a photo of their baby’s ultrasound on Instagram, alongside a gallery of throwback photos from over the years.

“To my forever love and my daily inspiration. Happy anniversary @ashleygraham,” he wrote. “These 9 years have played out like a lifetime. I guess it’s because my life really started once you came into it. Now that we’ve made a life together, let’s make a life together. I love you and I love us. All of us…”

The pregnancy video was taken on a recent holiday to the Amalfi coast in Italy, where the couple visited Capri, Ravello, and Atrani, which explains the sunshine and scenic views. But arguably the best thing about the announcement is that it’s completely low-key.

Graham might be a supermodel, but watching the video, the pair could be any couple squabbling over the camera focus. Obviously, it’s nice to have your best angles on show when you’re shooting a photo for the ‘gram, but it’s genuinely heartwarming to see that in the end, the pair just want to smile and share their happy news.

There’s also the not-so-insignificant fact that Graham is dressed in a comfy jersey dress, which, we think you’ll agree, looks pretty great. But in a world where so many of the images we consume online pressure women to subscribe to unrealistic beauty standards, Graham’s understated look is a refreshing statement of intent.

Ultimately, whether you prefer a casual pregnancy announcement, or a full-on photoshoot, we applaud celebs doing things a little differently.
