Amber Rose explains why masturbation is the ultimate form of self-care

Amber Rose has got some sound sex advice for us all…

Amber Rose recently unveiled her own sex toy line in partnership with LELO, the high-end sex toy brand.

The notable feminist and sex-positive icon is keen to help empower people – both men and women – to “embrace the normalcy of sex toys in everyday life.”

And, to do this, Rose has created a virtual “toy box” on Lelo’s site filled with all her favourite products, in an effort to help ease consumer stress of buying the “right” sex toy.

“I picked these out myself because I know that if they’re good for me, they might be good for you too,” Rose’s mission statement on the Lelo website reads.

“And if you love yourself, then your body deserves the best! I hope this helps you make the right choice for you. Because when it comes to pleasure, it’s all about YOU. Now go get you some.”

Now, in a new interview with Broadly, Rose has explained that she considers masturbation the ultimate “form of self-care” – and she’s keen for people to take the “derogatory bulls**t” that can so often come with buying sex toys and “throw it out the window”.

“I believe that you get to know yourself and your body. You learn what pleases you. And even if you don’t want to use a sex toy when you’re having sex with your partner, I do believe that using a sex toy when you’re by yourself can help your sexual relationship with your partner.

“Then you know how to move and understand what you want [your partner] to do for you.”

Rose added: “At the end of the day, usually for most women, we do not have an orgasm while just getting penetrated. So, to have something else extra to help us out, there is nothing wrong with that and we should not be ashamed of that.”

Rose has never been shy about sharing her self-love tips: last year, she advised fans to “masturbate in front of the mirror” in a bid to get to know their bodies better.

“I’m the queen of that,” she said at the time, “and I highly suggest it, by the way.

“Just go home and masturbate in the mirror. It’s f**king amazing. You should try it.”

Rose also talked about masturbation in a 2016 interview, saying that many young women don’t have a clue about how to please themselves.

The model – one of the women determined to reclaim the ‘slut walk’ – argued that learning how to masturbate can not only help women learn about their bodies and sexual pleasure, but it can also help reduce rates of STIs and STDs.

“As a young woman you don’t learn how to pleasure yourself, you don’t learn what an orgasm should be, you don’t learn that you should have feelings of satisfaction,” she said, according to Rolling Stone.

“If masturbation were taught in school, I wonder how [many] fewer people would get herpes aged 16, or pregnant at 14?”

Rose added: “For women, to go out and have sex with a guy is really easy for us. But there’s no passion. There’s no feeling. It’s meaningless — at least for me,” Rose said. “If you’re single, you can try toys.”

“You can also try expanding your mind a little more with porn and try to not look up the same things you look up. Kinda just try to find something different.

“Also, don’t be scared to talk [to] guys and take charge. Don’t always wait for them to talk to you because everybody has their own love language.”
