Adele is known for many things. Her voice. Her liquid eyeliner skills. Being everyone’s imaginary celebrity BFF.
But one thing she’s never been renowned for, especially, is her dancing. It’s fair enough: tracks like Someone Like You and Hello hardly require complicated choreography.
It’s all the more magical, then, to see Adele bust a move in the video for her latest single, Send My Love (To Your New Lover). The clip – debuted at Sunday’s 2016 Billboard Music Awards – sees the superstar shimmying her shoulders, swirling her incredible Dolce & Gabbana dress around, and doing a lot of that sassy hand-flick we’ve all come to know and love.
Send My Love (To Your New Lover) is the third release from Adele’s smash-hit third album, 25, for which she won the Top Billboard 200 Album Award on Sunday. And it’s her most upbeat, poppy track yet: a shimmering, shuddering kiss-off, dripping with the satisfaction of saying “Nah, you’re alright” when an ex suggests giving it another go.
At a concert in Stockholm in April, Adele told the crowd: “[For this song] we’ve got a really cool video, we did it on Monday… And you’ll not believe it, but I’m dancing in it. Can you believe it? Lost all of my inhibitions. It was actually really fun…”
And she's got plenty to be dancing about. On Monday, it was reported that Adele is due to sign a new record deal with Sony for £90 million – the biggest ever made by a British musician or female artist. If true, the deal will double her fortune, which is already estimated at £85 million. Yeah – we'd be having a little boogie, too.
