Watch Adele make surprise baby announcement live on stage

Over the past few months, Adele has performed at more than 100 shows around the world; however, last night she revealed that she is now set to take a three-month break over the Christmas holidays.

And, speaking from the stage of a concert in Phoenix, Arizona, she added that she has a great deal planned for her time away from the spotlight.

“I’ll see you later, I’ll see you on the other side,” Adele told her fans. “In a couple of years when I’ll be back, you won’t be able to get rid of me.”

The 28-year-old added: “I’m going to go and have another baby.”

It remains unclear if the Hello singer, who is already a mother to four-year-old Angelo with her partner Simon Konecki, was being serious.

Adele previously said that she was “too scared” to get pregnant again after suffering from “really bad postpartum depression” the first time around.

Speaking in Vanity Fair, she continued: “I think it’s the bravest thing not to have a child; all my friends and I felt pressurised into having kids, because that’s what adults do.

“I love my son more than anything, but on a daily basis, if I have a minute or two, I wish I could do whatever the f**k I wanted, whenever I want. Every single day I feel like that.”

It seems as if the 28-year-old may have changed her mind during the course of her world tour.

When she performed at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena in October, she told crowds gathered to see her: “My son is about to turn four very, very soon. I’m starting to get very emotional about it because I feel like once they turn four, they're not really your actual baby anymore. So, my womb is starting to ache a little bit. It's like, 'Baby, baby, baby. Need a baby, need a baby.’”

Ever aware of her responsibility to her fans, however, Adele added: “I’m not pregnant. I won't get pregnant until the end of the tour.”

Her family gave her a special surprise as she wrapped up the U.S. leg of her mammoth globe-trotting excursion, with a giant banner reading: “Mummy, you did it!”

Adele shared a photo of her son’s artwork on Instagram, writing: “I just finished my 107 shows in 10 months. 100% live every night. I bloody smashed it, even if I do say so myself.”

She continued: “You lot have been incredible, every night you've been so beautiful, loving and engaged. My band and my crew you made the whole thing turn. And my beautiful family made it easy for me to do.”

The singer will continue her live tour in February 2017, taking to stages and arenas across Australia and New Zealand until March. Her last show will take place in Auckland.

The tour, which was scheduled in support of her third album, 25, marks the first time she has done so in four years. Yet, while there’s no question that the Chasing Pavements star has enjoyed her time on the road, Adele has stressed in no uncertain terms that she will always put her family above her career.

“All of my relationships are more important to me than any tour I'll ever do. If my relationship with Simon or my relationship with Angelo started to flounder a bit now, I would pull out of my tour," she said.

“My life is more important to me than anything I'm doing because how the f**k am I supposed to write a record if I don't have a life? If I don't have a real life, then it's game over anyway.”
