Have I Got News For You's obscure trade magazines have got nothing on this lot...
An advertising publication that claims to to be the "world’s most stolen magazine" decided satire is the best form of defence against potential thieves, releasing a range of fake covers centred around obscure pastimes and dull hobbies.
Lürzer's Archive, a creative resource widely subscribed by advertising professionals, claims the magazine is a magnet for offices' light-fingered types, so marketeers Leo Burnett/Arc London came up with an anti-theft device to "turn the un-putdownable into something un-pickupable."
It created a range of authentic looking "untouchable covers", including titles such as Bucket Collector, which boasts features such as "Ming Dynasty Bucket Fetches £14 At Auction" and De-Worming World, that asks, "Are you too cool for stool?"
One of our favourites, Spreadsheet Enthusiast, offers the shameless strapline "99 Problems [but a batch ain't one]. Jay-Z would surely be proud.
"Is it a genuine doily or only a crocheted placemat", Doily News screams at us, above.
Ben Gough, the Leo Burnett/Arc London creative behind the concept said, “I wanted to do one magazine called Bollards but, amazingly, that already exists.”
Please, tell us of any painfully dull/unintentionally funny real-life publications you've come across on Twitter or in the comments section below.
