By this point, it’s safe to say that Wonder Woman is a game-changer. At the time of writing, the superhero smash hit had pulled in over £342million ($435m) at box offices around the world, putting an end to the tired old debate about whether audiences really want to see women-led comic book blockbusters. (Answer: yes, we do.)

Arguably the film’s most important effect, however, has been its impact on the kids who get to see it. For generations of men and women, ass-kicking female superheroes simply didn’t feature in their childhood. The little girls and boys caught up in today’s Wonder Woman mania, in contrast, have been provided with an icon of female power – one that will see them through playground games and beyond.

Want proof? Look no further than a list shared by Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, detailing some of the feedback the film has been getting from nursery-age children.

The list was reportedly sent in a letter to Jenkins’ producer by an anonymous pre-school worker, who wanted to highlight the film’s positive impact on children.

“I work at a kindergarten and this is a collection of cute Wonder Woman related things that happened within a week of the movie being released,” the letter begins.

Highlights from the list include:

• “On Monday, a boy who was obsessed with Iron Man told me he had asked his parents for a new Wonder Woman lunchbox.”
• “A little girl said ‘When I grow up I want to speak hundreds of languages like Diana [Wonder Woman’s birth name]’.”
• “Seven girls playing together during recess on Tuesday, saying that since they all wanted to be Wonder Woman they had agreed to be Amazons and not fight but work together to defeat evil.”
• “On Wednesday, a girl came with a printed list of every single female superhero and her powers, to avoid any trouble when deciding roles at recess.”
• “A boy threw his candy wrapping on the floor and a 5-year-old girl screamed, ‘DON’T POLLUTE YOU IDIOT, THAT IS WHY THERE ARE NO MEN IN THEMYSCIRA.’”

The letter concludes: “Consider this your friendly reminder that if this movie completely changed the way these boys and girls thought about themselves and the world in a week, imagine what the next generation will achieve if we give them more movies like Wonder Woman.”

Wonder Woman’s star, Gal Gadot, retweeted Jenkins’ post with the message: “Wow the last paragraph really gave me the chills.

“So true. So powerful. Gives me a huge drive to dive in and work on the next one.”
